The owner of a Macon massage parlor pleaded not guilty to federal prostitution and money laundering charges.
Hyeon Joo Chae, 44, didn’t speak during the short hearing in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
She appeared at her first arraignment without a lawyer last week.
Macon attorney Floyd Buford represented Chae at the Friday hearing.
Chae’s first hearing was put on hold due to concerns that she might need a translator. Her native language is Korean.
Buford said he has been able to communicate with Chae and a translator wasn’t needed for Friday’s short hearing. A translator may be needed for more complex proceedings.
Chae, who operated Sedona Tanning Salon on Riverside Drive, is being held at the Bibb County jail.
