MLB / Baseball newbie question. PLEASE ANSWER!!!?

hello there,
I'm wanting to get into Baseball and need two questions answered thank you very much lol.


1) The world series is a best-of-seven play off right? If the Yanks win today, it'll be 3-1 with one more game to go. I've seen stuff on various websites saying that they'll only play 7 full games if NECCESSARY! But if it's out of 5 first than surely someone will win either 4-1 or 3-2? so how will it be neccessary to play 7 games when 5 is also an odd number. Please explainnn. If yanks win today, have they won?

please explain the score board on tv.

I know what the OUTS are (1/2/3)
but i always see a

0-0 or 1-2 or a 2-2 next to the outs.

What do they mean?

1) If THe Yankees win today they will not have won. It is, yes, the best of seven, and yes, only if neccesary. Whoever wins 4 games first in the World Series, And The NLCS and ALCS, wins it. 7 is only if the teams tie 3-3 in the series, and then they need another to determine the winner. Only in the ALDS and NLDS can you win 3 to win, and that's the best of 5.
2) The numbers next to the outs is the pitch count. If you don't know this, the pitch count is the number of balls and strikes on the count. Balls are the first, strikes are the last. A ball in the pitch count is a pitch that has been determined unhittable by the umpire, and only if he doesn't swing. A strike in the pitch count is a pitch that has not been swung at and determined that it could've been hit by the umpire, or a batter that swung and missed on ANY pitch. If you get 4 balls, you get first autimattically which is called a walk, and 3 strikes you are out, which is called a strikeout.

To answer your second question, the "0-0 or 1-2" you see (or any other variation like 1-1, 2-1, 3-2, 2-3) is balls-strikes count. For example, if the count is at 3-2, then the amount of balls thrown have been three, while the amount of strikes thrown has been two. The count is thus full. Hope this helps.

So for the Yankees to win, they need to win two more games. For the Phillies to win, they need to win three more games because the Yankees lead the series 2-1.

1) They could have best-of 3 or best of 5 l(like the division series) but best of 7 is long enough so the luckiest or hottest team doesn't necessarily win. The yankees have to win two more games (before the Phillies win 3 more) to take the series.

For your first question. The world series is best of 7 games. So thy means first team to win 4 games is the champ. For example if Yankees win they will lead the series 3-1 Yankees will need one more game to be champions but if the phillies win the next 2 games series will be tied 3-3 , that is why game 6 and 7 are necessary to decide who the winner is .
Fory our second question the score board on tv will show the count ( balls- strikes) and how many outs. For example if a batter has 2 balls and one strike with 2 outs it will show 2-1. 2 outs. They will always put the balls first fllowed by the strikes ( so a count with 2 strikes and 3 balls will show 3-2 , NOT 2-3.
