My boyfriend introduces me as just a friend?

When I'm with my boyfriend and we're with his family he introduces me as just a friend because he has a daughter and he doesn't want his family to think that he's jumping around from girl to girl. At least this is the excuse/reason he gave me. The baby's mother has already moved on and has been with someone else for a long time. Another thing that bothers me is when we're hanging out with his friends he wont even hug me, hold my hand or sit by me, again for the same reason, because he doesn't want people to think he's a bad person or that i'm a bad person. I really don't understand this at all and it's making me upset... I feel like he's trying to hide that he's dating me. He told me to give him time to get used to me and open up to me. But I don't know what to do. This seems really weird? When we are alone he has no problem touching me or being near me. Advice?

dump him! why put yourself in a relationship that doesnt make you feel like youre the greatest woman alive. if he has a past of jumping from girl to girl its probably cuz the past girls felt the same way, a relationship is a 2 way street. if he isnt proud of you to show off to his family and friends, than youre just "that girl." you deserve better. and he doesnt want people to think HE'S a bad person? so he thinks about himself before you? get out while you can.

If you have been with your boyfriend for a few months now then he should be used to being with you.
If any guy or girl does not open up about somethings to the people they are in a relationship with, it is because they do not want to admit to something that is embarrassing and make the person they are involved with look down at them with laughter or shame.
I would not tell a few things to past women in my life because I had a feeling they would not be understanding.
An example would be my last girlfriend who was verbally abusive-she was never emotionally supportive, she would make cruel jokes to me, criticize me often and get mad at me often mostly over small things.
If you are an open-minded girl who is also genuinely sweet and caring then he should open up to you about things that he has not told you.
On one hand, it is nice that he introduced you to his family and friends instead of keeping you as a secret but on the other hand, it feels like he is embarrassed to admit that you are his girlfriend and act affectionate towards you in public (holding hands, kissing you).
His family and friends I am sure are not stupid.
They know you are his girlfriend.
His actions do not indicate that he is really proud to have you as his girlfriend.
Unfortunately, it seems like he is just using you.
If you have told him that how his actions bother you and he has not promised to change, then I consider ending this relationship with you.

I was once exactly the same situation as you. He is introducing you to his family as his friend because that's what you are! Am sorry to say it but it's true! I found out the hard way.

His baby mother is probably over him but i guarantee you he is not over her. By him saying to people and his family that you are his girlfriend that is killing any type of chance of him ever getting back with her in case they tell her. If he truly likes you or maybe loves you why would he care what anybody thinks???? Think about it.....you deserve soo much better!

yeah he is obviously trying to hide you as his girlfriend. how long have you been together? if its only a couple months i would let it slide for now but if its been a while you should tell him to cut that sh*t out or you will go find someone who isn't embarrassed to be with you.

He's full of it. It's fine if he doesn't want others to think you're bad, but there's nothing wrong with saying you're seeing each other. his parents won't think he's girl-hopping if he sticks to you. IS he only seeing you? His friends won't have a problem with it.

Your reputation? If he's so concerned, then don't let him touch you when you're alone with him.

Tell him you value honesty, and no more touching until he's willing to be honest to the world. Otherwise, you'll be friends, so your relationship is honest because it matches what he's telling everyone.
