Well - I just wanted to share my little newsletter blurb from my summer client newsletter.

"With rising gas prices, many are raising their rates. After careful consideration, I've decided not to increase prices, but rather, consolidate my working days.

I'm extending hours on Saturdays to be available (w/appointment) from 9am-6pm at regular massage prices. Mid-week appointments will be available for a $5 scheduling fee.
Same day cancellations will result in 1/2 the cost being applied to your account.

Remember - I'll be on maternity leave in September & resume massages in October. Schedule soon to get in before Baby Micah makes his appearance!

Special Event - August 1st 10am-2pm @ Wal-Mart; 10 minute massages for $5 to benefit Children's Miracle Network. Come & support the cause!

wonderful - and i love the charitable event as well, although i have to question your sanity for scheduling this at the end of your THIRD TRIMESTER!!!

**laughing** Yeah well - my husband's work is sponsoring the event and since he's a manager I could hardly turn it down. I did tell them that I reserve the right to sit down whenever I feel the need.

AND I will DEFINATELY be taking a break at noon since that is the time slot my husband is going in the big water-dunking-tank! *mischevious wink*

I figured sending my clients a heads-up about the event could only help generate some positive interest.

As for the cutting back my hours - that was a much need relief to me. I've been a little "just call me and come by" which works a LOT better single/childless than with a brand new baby.

SO - I am basically giving myself permission to put my family first. My clients can come on Saturday or pay me extra for my time. You all don't KNOW how long it's taken me to get to this point. But - my family deserves better than my leftovers.

It's not just your family that deserves better...so do you. They will all have to be second in line, at least part of the time! Once in awhile you have to put yourself first & don't forget it! Like I've told many of my clients (especially the MOMS) If you don't take care of yourself, and filling your well first, then you'll have nothing to give out to others !

I know you will be taking care of you, because you're to smart not to do it ! And get your rest whenever you can too. Glad to hear you're cutting back your hours and getting your clients on board with booking appointments according to your schelduling available hours. I was greatly relieved when I made that transition, myself. Besides, it really comes down to running your business like a business.
All of which is really a winning situation for you & your clients.
