Spring has sprung, and along with the warm weather comes the necessity to spruce up the nest, the outside area of the house, the car, and of course, the need to shed some cold weather-induced overindulgence in food/drink.
After a tough day, I decided to look for some relief in all the familiar places. Unfortunately, my favourites were not working, on holidays, were all booked up, or were not answering the phone.
What to do, what to do?
After opening up a nice bottle of Elderton Shiraz, I sat back and pondered my predicament.
Hey, I haven't been to Gemini in quite a while! Why don't I give them a call and see who's on first? The thought zipped through my mind slowly, as I enjoyed my first sip of wine. Mmmm. I nibbled on some triple-cream brie, and looked up the phone number.
"Hi, Gemini Spa", the girl answered. "Who's in today?" I asked. "Well, we have a new girl, Josie. Would you like a description?" she asked. "Yes, that'd be great!"
(too many times I get some curt receptionist who refuses to give out any information over the phone, but this girl, Jane I believe, was very polite and helpful)
"Josie is 23, brunette, with a phillipino background." After a couple of other questions, I decided to take the plunge.
I recorked the bottle, (I never bother doing it properly, as it'll be finished when I get back!) and ran outside for my trusty bicycle. Damn, forgot my crash helmet! I fumbled with my keys outside the door, and finally found the old head protector sitting inside an empty case of Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon (Oh, that was an excellent quaffing wine!).
Making a mental note to buy some more Wynns on the way back, I set out to the east side of town. Even though the TTC wasn't on strike, the roads were a mess! The warm air, combined with the high pressure system, seemed to pull every green-horn and slow-poke driver out of winter hiding. Getting to Gemini was tough, and the warm wine-induced buzz I had slowly ebbed away as I peddled my way out to Pape & Danforth.
