The most important part of soccer is PASSING. so go outside with some friends and practice kicking the ball back and forth using the inside of your foot. Keep trying at different lengths apart. If you are just beginning in soccer, take a touch on the ball to stop it and then pass it off. Try making various runs after you pass. It would be better to play in a gamelike situation. The next most important thing is defense. No stabbing at the ball. Watch the ball and the players hips and wait until they take a bad touch and try to get it from them. You also need to be in decent shape. Run both long distance and short sprints in order to have the endurance to play through a whole soccer game. Coaches prefer players who can play as long as they are needed. Practice various cuts and use all surfaces of your foot (bottom, laces, inside, outside) and dribble around your backyard. The key is to feel comfortable on the ball.
