Newsletters, Yes or No

Just received a sample newsletter from Staying In Touch i love the content and the way it is written. My question is... Can some of you who have used these newsletter ( or any) tell me how they worked out for you, did you have good success with repeat clients, did you find that your clients actually read them or (I hate to say it) did they consider it junk mail and discard them?

i haven't used them as of yet but keep saying that i'm going to. i really am going to! well, a little off the topic of massage but keeping on the topic of newsletters. i received a newletter from a body shop the other day. funny thing is, i haven't had any work done there before. the guy who owns it is a client of mine and we did a trade (he helped me put some parts on my jeep ~ woo hoo!) so now i'm in his data bank. anyway, i got the newsletter and i totally loved it. i learned 5 new things from reading it and i have it out on a table in my office for anyone else who'd like to look at it. i think the clients who care about your business and their bodies will read it. maybe others will toss it out but who needs them as clients anyway?

YES YES YES!!

I know of the Staying in Touch newsletter, I believe it is the most used newsletter of the few that are out there. I figured there was someone in my area using that newsletter, so I opted to write my own. I didnt want to confuse my clients.

I hear comments on my newsletters all the time. I find a large percent of my clients read them and comment on them often.

Newsletters keep you in your clients minds. After I send out a newsletter or post card my phone rings more.

I love the idea of sending out newsletters, but personally i dont care for the staying in touch brand. Too wordy and impersonal for my taste. I cant imagine my clients actually sitting down to read them. Sometimes i do put my own out (on paper or through email) so they have access to My coupons and my specials. and they dont get too wordy.

I was printing out the newsletters you can create through the ABMP website and putting them out in my office, but it go too expensive! I was paying about $2 for each newsletter (2 pages, front and back, color copies) and they were very nice, but printing even 20 of those cost me more money than I could afford. I would like to start doing it again but send it in an e-mail to clients that are interested.

You just gave me an idea to create a poll for clients to see if they'd like to receive these or not. Thanks!

rtamm... It doesnt matter if your clients like getting your newsletter or not. Getting your newsletter reminds them of your business. When they are reminded of your business, they are more likely to give you a call and book an appointment. ANYTHING you send them in the mail will do this. Every time I send something in the mail, I get more calls. More calls equals more money. It may cost me nearly $100 to send out my newsletter to everyone, but I always get at least 2 or 3 people per 100 to call me and book an appointment. Well worth my while to get that newsletter out.

The ABMP newsletters are not very cost effective to print if you take them to a professional printer. I bought a laser printer to mass print. I refill the toner myself to help save even more. I do quite a bit of printing.... but have done more in the past. Currently, I use my laser printer to print my pricing brochures, newsletters, forms, and a few brochures that I wrote myself. In the past I have also printed my own gift certificates and a lot more brochures than I currently do now. I started out with an ink jet printer that I refilled the ink carts myself... what a mess and it was soooo slow!!
