Hi everyone!! I know I have been absent for quite some time. But I have thought of many of you and kept intending to post and "lurk" but time really does slip on past rapidly! One of the things that I wanted to post about was a much needed benefit that I acquired through my membership with the AMTA.
My husband has been unemployed for quite some time now. He works part time as a wedding photog and as an adjunct professor but neither of these jobs nets the income we have grown accustomed to. I am working as many hours as I physically can to fill the void,, but OMG I feel like I am meeting myself coming and going!! But I am grateful for my little business and now I am even more grateful for the AMTA.
We needed to find private health insurance. I tried getting group insurance through my massage practice but even then it was sooo expensive, like over $1,000 a month and that is pretty steep when you are going through a decrease in your income. We also looked into private insurance coverage and also had the option to remain covered by COBRA ( that was like 1400 $ a month!)
So after talking and projecting costs with several insurance brokers (is that what I should call them?) I got online and decided to check out the AMTA website.
Long story short, within a short period of time we have our coverage and it is costing us a little under $500.00 a month. Mind you, we are both in our 50's, so remember coverage costs escalate along with your aging process... LOL
So, if anyone on this forum needs health insurance look into your AMTA or ABMP membership for a possible solution.
