An Orange County chiropractor was convicted and sentenced Friday for sexually assaulting a 28-year-old client during a massage therapy session, prosecutors said.
Dennis Scott Durbin, 65, pleaded guilty Friday to one felony count of sexual battery by fraud and was sentenced to 365 days in jail and three years of probation, according to a statement from the Orange County district attorney's office.
Prosecutors said Durbin, a resident of Costa Mesa, will also have to register as a lifetime sex offender and agreed to have his chiropractor license revoked.
Prosecutors said that, in 2011, the woman started visiting Sky Park Chiropractic in Irvine to receive treatment for an injured knee from Durbin.
He also started giving the woman massage therapy, and during an Aug. 4 session, Durbin touched the woman inappropriately, prosecutors said.
She reported the case to the National Sexual Assault hotline, which contacted Irvine police.
