Personal notes on postcard/promo mailing

Hey folks,

I am about to send out some postcards to clients. I plan to include a small personal note on them. With clients I see regularly or more recently, that should be easy enough.

But what about the clients I saw once or twice over a year or more ago? Should I write something personal? Would it seem weird to get a postcard from an MT you may not even recall seeing? I have SOAP notes to jog my memory, but they don't. I am not at the same location, or even the same city as when I saw some of these clients last.

Thoughts?

...and, yes, I realize that not sending something to clients in that long says something about my organizational skills...

Well, my first thought regarding sending a post card to those you haven't seen in a long time, or in this location, would be to let them know you've changed locations! That would seem like reason enough to get the card, and they will be glad to know where you are now. It won't seem weird to them at all.

Don't shoot yourself over your organizational skills. You're doing something NOW. That is good.

I have great organizational skills. It's the implementation of those skills that is seriously lacking.

What are these postcards for? Are you doing a promo? Is this just a 'Happy New Year' card? Is it a 'Thanks for your business' card?

I ask because depending on why you are sending these cards, you may not need to say anything specific to those you haven't seen in a while. However, if it is a marketing-specific post card, I wouldn't send it to those you haven't seen. I would send them a different card first.

I think a little personal note actually goes a long way to having your clients feel they really matter to you.

Are you also sending out the postcards to let them know if you have any seasonal package deals or a special rate for those folks you haven't seen in awhile?

You may want to consider a theme of sorts like I just put out.

I called it my Winter into Spring limited time offer,
(Like Hot Chocolate for the Soul)

The offer consists of 3 sessions over the next 3 months at a special price for the package deal. They could use their sessions at any time, or at the outside, they would need to schedule once every 4 weeks. I made it so they must take advaneforum.xxxe of the offer by calling in & booking the sessions before the end of this month - meaning their actual appointment could be one in Feb. one in March & one in April.....or closer together if that better suited them.

I made sure to send it out to a couple client's husbands too, & one, so far, has bought the package for his wife's birthday. Give a guy a good idea & they'll run with it!!!

I see nothing wrong with writing on there that you miss the client -- or something like that. A handwritten note on a post card can really sing of "Wow, I'm special!" to the client.

I do it sometimes, so surely it can't be all that bad! *haha* :grin:

No problem with the fact that your organizational skills got lost in this past years move and whatnot. You could even handwrite something about "Sorry this took so long for me to send this over to you... it was a wild and crazy year!".

To answer some questions, they are mostly "thank you" cards. "Thank you" is printed on the back with space for a handwritten note.

It is also a promo card of sorts. I am introducing a sliding scale fee, so "Sliding scale fees available." is also printed on the back along with my email, phone #, office address, and website. I know it sounds like a lot, but it doesn't take up much space.

So I hope to accomplish a number of things with it- thank my regulars, remind my somewhat regulars, and stay in touch with the clients I haven't seen in a while, plus let people know that they don't have to fret about the $75 rate per session. Unemployment is over 10% here, so times are pretty tough for a lot of people- nevermind the people who were living on the economic edge even before this financial fiasco.

I would definitely send this to anyone/everyone in my contact list. As you said, you will be writing a little note to people on the card. So, for those you haven't seen in a while you could say something like ...

"Hi Sally! I just wanted to send you a note to let you know of my new location and new rates. I know it's been a while and I truly hope you are well."

Remember, it doesn't matter so much what you say as it does that you are making contact again. After this card goes out try to send something non-marketing in another few months to those you still have not seen. Those you are seeing will be getting cards anyway.

Palpable, well it depends. If they spend huge amount in the past, I am surely do that. You know this little stuff makes them to remember you and who knows if they are going to return or not? If they do, you will only have the benefits I guess. Perhaps instead of sending a physical mailing what about trying an e-card?

This also works as well and you don't have much overhead about it.
