Prague is one of the main sex capitals of Europe but it can be a school of hard knocks for newcomers. This Infosheet should minimize your negative experience. It includes both my personal experiences as well as those of other mpnet Forum Prague members posted during 2003 and updated since. Remember they are subjective according to time, place and person. 1.2 Ground Transportation

Bus lines like Eurolines connect Prague to most European cities. Now they have to compete with low-cost airlines though. Trains are much more expensive, good only for overnight travels.

SECTION 2 Getting Around

2.1 From and to the Airport

Bus: Express bus #100 to subway B terminal "Zlicin". Every 30 min. Ticket (CZK 20) valid for 75 min can be also bought from the driver (CZK 25). City bus #119 to subway A terminal "Dejvicka".

Airport transport: Cedaz (www.cedaz.cz/about-transport-services.php) (+420 221 111 111, 220 114 296, 224 281 005) provides transport between downtown and airport by shuttle car for CZK 120 o/w with 1 piece of luggage, every 30 min. (11/2007)

Taxi: rip-off (CZK 600+ from/to downtown), on meter (CZK 350-400). Cheating cabbies made a bad name for Prague internationally. See 2.2.

2.2 Around the town

Interactive Maps (www.mapy.cz)

Prague Information Service (www.pis.cz) has several offices in downtown. They give out free simple downtown maps.

City transport - MHD (www.dpp.cz/index.php?q=en) - subway, bus, tram, train, maps (www.ropid.cz/cz/mapy.htm) - is quite good. 75 min ticket costs CZK 20 (25 when bought from a bus driver). Tourist 24h or 3 days tickets are not needed if you move only around downtown where most places are walking distance or short distance by bus/tram (ticket CZK 14 valid 15min). Tickets can be bought at tobacconist's, subway stops and bigger tram/bus stops (yellow vending machines). If you get caught by a ticket inspector, the fee is CZK 500 if you pay on the spot, 900 if you pay later in the MHD office. Ticket inspectors must carry a numbered badge and an photo id with the same # as on the badge. In subway they must wear an uniform. Some like to target unsuspecting tourists in downtown subway stops forcing them to pay on the spot which is not compulsory. Sometimes they even cheat (like claiming the ticket is not valid, etc.) and sometimes they are accompanied by metropolitan police.

Taxi: Avoid downtown taxis. If you need taxi, call any of the several taxi companies (AAA, Profitaxi, Dimo, Halo Taxi, etc. listed in Yellow Pages (www.zlatestranky.cz/YellowResult.do?headingFilter=id5801, section 333). They will tell you the exact price you'll pay to the driver. There is usually no arrival fee when phoned. City Taxi (257 257 257) allegedly responds to sms.

Paddy: "The cabbies often try and rip you off. I've had good success with AAA Taxi although developing a relationship with a cabbie is your best bet in the long run.

"Ask one of the bartenders to order you a cab from AAA Taxi who tend not to rip you off. If taxis are called by a bar or establishment, the taxi drivers like that type of business and give you the normal rate so they don't lose the business. You should also ask for a quote before you get in."

Beware of Prague's taxi drivers! They can often exert a lot of pressure upon foreign citizens to go to a specific nightclub of their recommendation. Renting a car: Not recommended if you plan to stay only in Prague. Local agencies can be several times cheaper than well-known worldwide brands (e.g. www.befacoal.cz - min. CZK 303/day, vs. www.hertz.cz - min. CZK 1590/day for 1-2 days renting of Skoda Fabia). Listings e.g. at dir.seznam.cz/phr/Autopujcovny.

3.1 Apartments

Best choice for sex traveler. Privacy, comfort and lower price than pensions and hotels. Book them in advance by email. They are usually offered through travel & accommodation agencies. Some listings:

mpnet readers' recommendation: Mary's Travel & Tourist Service (www.marys.cz, phone: +420 222-254-007). They are allegedly very good at responding to emails and also rent mobile phones at CZK 100/day.

Paddy: "I've used Tom's Travel in the past and can highly recommend them. Everyone speaks English fluently and they will respond to your e-mail ([email protected]) very promptly. They have all types of housing available. Their office is located at Ostrovni 7 near the National Theater. They also pick you up at the airport."

3.2 Pensions and hotels

MarkABC: "Hotel prices may vary a lot during the calendar year... Prague hotels are sometimes crazy! If you need some help to find and book an accommodation in Prague, contact [email protected] . It's a travel agency specialist to East Europe. Managers are hobbyists themselves, so feel free to ask them what hotel is "girls friendly" or any other "hobby" related questions. They are helpful and share infos. BTW I never had problems in Prague hotels except at the Quality hotel. I was stopped 1 time in the Crown Plaza hotel lobby at 3:00am by security staff but finally was allowed to go back to my room with my "temporary" companion."

Prices start at about CZK 1000. Privacy may be a problem in some. Some disallow female visits at all and some demand extra payment, what to speak of looking down at you. Really bad in this regard is Hotel Kampa - Stara zbrojnice (experience of my U.K. friend).

On the other hand, girl-friendly ones are Four Seasons Hotel (recommended by Johny Doh), U Krale Karla (recommended by Paddy), Hotel Olsanka (recommended by my U.S. friend), L'Andel's, Palace Hotel (both recommended by Traveler0099), Bonaparte Pension (here they want CZK 550 if you bring a girl for the whole night).

About 5 min walk from Show Park (see 5.5) there is Hotel Extol Inn (Pristavni 2, Praha 7 - Holesovice). Private flats in the area.

3.3 Bed & girl

You can get accommodation in some private flats or houses. You can leave your luggage locked there. Mila's (www.mila-escort.net) have Ukrainian, Russian and Byelorussian girls. They cater mainly to foreigners.

GandJim: "With Mila's, you can't do it by email with Markus and have to call Mila. More important for me, I always take the girls as overnight escort out to my place, and don't go to their place. With Mila's, you have to release the girl at 9.00am sharp, a taxi is already waiting for them downstair. She tells you that you just have to wake up in time and wake up the girls if you want to have a morning session."

SECTION 4 General Info

Book guides are many, depending on one's preferences and financial strength. "Prague" by Lonely Planet is among the best guides for budget travelers (it avoids expensive places).

Virtual Tourist - Praha (forum.virtualtourist.com/forum-428-1-Travel-Hlavni_Mesto_Praha--forum.html) lists personal experiences of travelers (not the sex-related ones though... but some women are looking for travel mates there .

Prague Information Service (www.pis.cz) provides guided tours and other services.

Zlate stranky (Yellow Pages, www.zlatestranky.cz). Its printed copies also have tourist info, Prague map, cultural and other events, etc. English and German index. Companies providing guided tours.

4.1 Money Exchange

Shelver: "The other ripoff (aside from taxi mafia) is the exchange crooks that have a big sign saying "no commission". That's fine but the exchange rate they give you is at least 20% lower than the official bank exchange rate so they make a bundle the more you exchange. I found this out the hard way paying about $30 to exchange $150. They play games with the buy/sell numbers and hide what you will get in the end. Only get money from ATMs or real banks-all exchanges on the street are ripoffs no matter what rate they put on their signs."

"No comission" applies only to buying foreign currency, not CZK.

For travelers' checks there is rather high commission charge (9 - 20%) unless you exchange them directly at the issuing company office.

Street exchange is not recommended, rates are not much better and often there are scams involved (either you get old Czech banknotes or those from other Eastern countries like Poland or Bulgary with minimal value).

4.2 Mobile phones for local use

massageplanete Dog: "You can rent mobile phones, but I think it is better to buy an used one and sell it back at the end of your trip. Go to the Narodni Trida metro stop (line B, yellow), walk out to the sidewalk, and you are standing next to the Tesco. Across the tram tracks (and maybe a few doors to the left), there is a shop with used mobile phones for sale.

"Now you need a SIM card. Cross back to the Tesco and walk around the corner (make a right hand turn at the corner). Just after the Tesco, there is an Vodafone store. Buy a pre-paid SIM card for 400 CZK. Now you have a local phone with a local phone number. [Jan: There are other Vodafone stores, e.g. at Vaclavske namesti.]

Cheapest places to buy used phones are pawnshops ("zastavarna"). Many are open till late hours.

Three Czech operators are Telefonica O2 (www.cz.o2.com), T-Mobile (www.t-mobile.cz) and Vodafone (www.vodafone.cz).

4.3 Tourist traps, safety, drugs

As in other cities there are overpriced downtown restaurants, pubs and souvenir shops with "foreign tourist prices" around the main tourist places and routes (Vaclavske namesti/Wenceslas Square, Staromestske namesti/Old Town Square, Karluv most/Charles Bridge, Karlova ulice/Charles Street, Mala Strana/Little Quarter, Hradcany a.k.a. Prazsky hrad/Prague castle). Just a few street away you'll find much better deals.

Paddy: "In reference to the restaurants, I, too, have found that they have trouble "adding" correctly and it's usually in their favor. They're somewhat surprised that Americans can add correctly. Still, Prague is a great place if you're careful and alert at all times."

Prague is quite safe city. There are pickpockets (often groups of gipsy women and kids) in crowded downtown places. Beware of gipsy groups on bus/tram stops where they squeeze into a tram/bus doors around you and then you find your stuff missing. One should be also careful in remote streets in dark. Don't carry your passport and valuables and if you must, use moneybelt. While going to see girls, carry just the right amount of money negotiated in advance plus an intended tip.

There are no specific health risks in Czech Republic in comparison with West Europe or USA. AIDS is not a big problem here but streetwalkers are obviously the highest risk group.

Buying drugs on the street: Strongly discouraged. You may pay few hundred CZK for a fake or low-quality stuff.

4.4 Language

Better companies, shops, etc. have English speaking staff. Most people on the street don't speak English but student and business types usually do. You can also ask for help in hotel receptions and shops selling more expensive things. With other languages there are less chances. Some older people speak German. SECTION 5 Having Fun

Practically everything is available. Authorities show high tolerance in this regard. Corruption is quite spread. Only sometimes they make a show in the media how they crack down on some mafia-run brothels or clubs (easy to target).

The prices and quality went down with the influx of girls from Ukraine, Russia, etc. There is an oversupply in Prague, contrary to other cities. In the Prague sex business there are pros (employed and independent) as well as semi-pros (students, mothers and even grandmas) boosting their budget. Employed girls get usually 30-50% from the price paid. Many girls, especially on the street, are gipsy, Bulgarian, Ukrainian and Russian, some do unsafe sex (BBJ, BBJTC) and some are drug addicts or pickpockets.

Do your homework before travelling by reading the monger forums and report your experience after.

Paddy: "It's all about having control of the situation." Obviously, this is low for escorts and higher for clubs.

5.1 Finding the places

Escort Online aka EOL (www.escort.cz) is the biggest and most up-to-date database with pictures (unfortunately many fake), detailed info, maps and discussion forums. Other domain names of this site are clubs.cz, erotika.cz and sex.cz. When girls say they are "online" most often they mean this site. "Top Establishments/Service of the week" get the last added/changed establishments - therefore they change very often to get on top. "Tip of the day" is a paid placement.)

Sexy stranky (www.sexystranky.cz , run by Annonce newspaper, has some outdated info)

Nornik.net is the biggest Czech mongering site. Has a small English section as well.

Main newspaper with listings is Annonce, its second part called "Hobby". Last several pages feature ads, many with pictures. It is also online but with less pics: "Pros" category. Ads are quite easy to understand. You may refer to our Little sex vocabulary. Give preference to ads with several girls to have a bigger choice. Also at least some of them may speak English.

5.2 Private flats

Private flats (usually CZK 1000-2000/h, 4000-6000/night) are preferable to clubs and escorts. Quality and prices differ considerably. Better are those with independent girls (no boss), with only one girl at a time, like in Diskret Privat. These girls/ladies tend to try harder, not to watch time so much and the environment is more peaceful. Some do also escorts. Beware of many services paid extra. First time they want to please you more to get you back but then the service quality tends to drop. Before taking a girl for the whole night it is recommend to take her for at least 1-2 hours. Cheap privates under CZK 1000 are usually run by Ukraine girls and offer poor service.

To find a private flat you'll need a good map (I use a Czech software version, contact me if interested), mobile phone and preferably some knowledge of Czech language. (They may advertise English and other foreign languages but reality is often different). Often the girls won't tell you the doorbell name but you have to call them in front of the house. Ask them to sms you the address. Take advantage of Little sex vocabulary. Unless the flat is far from the downtown you won't need a taxi.

Calling the places on weekend nights may be frustrating - they are very busy and not answering. When you call them, arrange for a time and stress that you really come. Very often guys call, arrange a visit but don't come so the girls are frustrated and tend to admit anyone who comes sooner. Waiting is quite frustrating.

When inside, ask for a drink (it should be offered automatically) and talk to the girls. Thus you can see their attitude (which may however change in bed.) If you are nice to the girls you may get better service and extra time. Ask how do they count time - if from the arrival or from starting the service (better ones) and what is specifically not allowed or paid extra (like DFK, DATY, fingers inside, certain positions, squeezing breasts, cumming on breasts, etc.). Always take shower before and insist that the girl does the same. Believe it or not but some don't.

More information is always better but take information from that site with a grain of salt. Drawbacks:

- fake advertisements: pics of different girls than available, languages they don't speak (good to ask someone local to arrange your visit), services they don't provide
- footwork, time
- girls often change locations (some establishments have several flats where they rotate girls who also quite often move from one employer to another) and work in shifts
- prices are usually higher for foreigners (CZK 500+)

The conclusion: the good ones are not easy to find (personal recommendation helps, search forums).

5.3 Escorts

Their common practice is to send another girl than you wanted - they advertise different girls and pics than available. If you ask for a certain girl, they will say she's available. So it's better to ask who's available today. The girls are often unenthusiastic and tend to leave sooner than paid for. Some agencies are using different names and phone numbers but the same girl picks up the phone. Prices are CZK 1500 - 3000/h which usually doesn't include taxi fee to and from your place (CZK 500-1000, overpriced).

Best is to meet the girl in person in a private flat or club and only then agree on escort. If you get her private phone number and meet her in her free time, bypassing her boss, she will be more glad to please you, especially if you take her for a dinner. Don't mention her name in online forums afterward because her employer may read it (some regularly do).

5.4 Clubs

What you see is what you get but quality differs much. Prices are CZK 3500+ per hour. You pay about CZK 500 extra if you arrive by taxi (commission). To avoid this find club's address and get a ride close but not exactly in front of it - pretend to look for a friend or so.

Best in Prague is K5 Relax in Korunni 5, Praha 2, near subway A "Namesti Miru". Open 16-04h, 12-45 girls. Prices depending on services requested (sauna, massages, jacuzzi, pedicure, manicure, bar, restaurant and rooms). No high-priced drinks for girls. Entrance/cover CZK 500. CZK 3900/h. You can stay with the girl in the lounge and cocktail bar afterward for free. Escort is CZK 4000/h. They don't pay comission to taxi drivers who bring clients but one doesn't need taxi to get there. Their affiliate is called Big Sister in front of Smichovske nadrazi railway station. They came with an online video broadcast idea using clients as porn actors. Clients need to bring a passport and to sign a contract. Some rooms are without cams too. On weekends they organize couples and swingers party.

GandJim about K5: "Best time to arrive in the club is by 8 PM. That's when the main 'shift' arrives, big choice and girls are fresh. 10 PM is worse time, most of the nice girls are picked already and are in the rooms or with somebody else. Strip clubs usually have rooms upstairs where you can take the girl, prices from CZK 1000 for a table dance and CZK 2500+ for a half hour. Rather overpriced.

General advice is to avoid the clubs. Better to visit a normal bar/pub and then some good private flat. In this way you'll get 'the best of both worlds' - lower prices and calmer and safer atmosphere.

5.5 Show Park (www.redlight.cz)

Formerly called Sex Park, this is an Amsterdam style sex supermarket: girls in small rooms. The selection is better during the night. It is close to subway C stop "Vltavska". Take trams 3, 14 (from Vaclavske namesti), 1, or 25 to stop "Prazska trznice" in Prague 7 - Holesovice. Get off and walk about 100 m ahead. The house is on your left side. Entrance fee CZK 60, metal detector checkup. CZK 1000/30min, 2000/h. Next to it is Red Light Bar. Reports complain of mechanical service and less time.

5.6 Hotel lobby girls

Paddy: "In the major hotels, you'll find "lobby" girls at night. They seem to charge insane prices, however. Far more than the clubs and it's a pricing structure I've never understood."

They cater to lazy and rich hotel guests. I suppose none of them read this website.

5.7 Non-pro girls

There are students in discos and clubs who offer sex. A bit time-consuming though. Some popular places:
