PLEASE HELP Anxiety about massage demo/interview tomorrow!

OK guys so im freaking out here. I had an interview today with a very reputable spa here in charlotte. It went fairly well and she wants me to come in tomorrow afternoon for a demo. :shock:
I am having the panic attack from hell. For a number of reasons
1 being that this will be my first job since graduating school a year ago (because i recently had a baby so took time off)
2 this is my first Interview/Demo
3 I havent given many massages lately .. i hardly have time to shower with this kid so im scared that im out of touch. I plan to massage everyone in my house tonight to practice but im just uggg i dont know.
She says ill be graded on the client consult, whatever questions i ask before the massage. I dont really know what i should ask ?? Isnt there usually a form they fill out ? lol Aside from have you been here before is this your first massage etc? I dont know HELP.
Then of course my communication during the massage about pressure etc which is fine got that but then at the end when it comes time to "Sell myself" as she put it. Where i convince the client to book their next appt and explain why massage is so important for the body etc.

HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im so nervous i cant even think straight.
Can you guys give an example of how you do these things and what to say etc? Thanks so much in advance!

Don't put too much pressure on yourself and be natural.

Practice tonight and feel confident that you will do a good massage for your interview.

As for the questions prior to the massage:
I normally have the client fill out an intake form and then go over the form with them. You could insist the interviewer fills out a form - after all would you take a client who didn't?. If not, just ask the questions that are usually on the form. Medical history - medications - physical or mental complaints, etc..

For me, after the client is dressed and out of the massage room, I will ask how they feel. I tell them to drink water and explain why. I will then suggest a frequency (one a month min.) and ask if they would like to schedule their next appointment.
I don't feel like I am being pushy or trying to sell myself, just following up at the end.

Once you are in the massage room and you begin your protocal I am sure that your confidence will come back. Try to stay calm and centered. Breathe and do your best.

oh my gosh ~ take a deep breath. you're going to be fine! really, it will come back to you immediately. and i think masthera has given you a perfect example of what to do afterward. ask them how they feel. encourage them to drink plenty of water and ask them if they would like to reschedule. maybe something a little extra would be (if it's not already on their intake) to ask them "may i add you to our mailing list so you can be notified of any specials or upcoming events?" this may show a little initiative on your part about staying connected to your clients. it may get them started on something new. this is of course if they don't already do this....and if they do, they don't even need to train you to ask 'cause you've already proven you know how!

don't do anything that doesn't come natural to you. be yourself and look them in the eyes! most importantly........be confident! (and let us know how you did of course!)

contrary to popular belief, not all spas offer an intake. and when there isn't one, i've asked these questions:
1. have you any accidents or injuries i need to know about?
2. are you taking medications and what are they?
3. are you pregnant?
4. what are you expecting from your massage today? relaxation or specific work or both? (that depends on service booked.)

as for 'selling yourself', i'm not exactly sure what she wants from you.

my routine after a spa massage, was to bring the robe and slippers to the table so the client doesn't have to walk across the room undressed. while they were robing up, i'd get them water. when walking them back to the lockerroom, or to their next spa/salon service, i would ask if they have enjoyed all the facilities and make sure i would point them out. (steam/sauna/jacuzzi etc.)
right before leaving them, i would ask if they had any questions and thank them for coming to the spa.

Well that really didnt go as bad as i expected. lol To start with my son decides to get sick out of the clear blue sky and stay up ALL night screaming , the lovely joys of motherhood. So its 2:30 pm right now and i still havent slept AT ALL. How i managed i dont even know. I was too nervous this morning to eat and too frantic so there i was exhausted and starving sitting in the waiting room of the spa feeling like i was about to pass out seriously i was dizzy etc etc. But weird thing was as soon as it came down to business i was wide awake and feeling like i had taken a full bottle of energy pills lol. I was just ready to go. Again i have no clue how lol. Luckily the girl i massaged was sooo sweet and down to earth (how i usually expect massage therapists to be anyway but sometimes ..ya never know lol) So i immediately felt comfortable. She really wasnt for the whole role playing pretend im just a client deal she just wanted the massage and thats it. SHe went as far as to say if u need help with anything feel free to ask me and so on lol. I thought that was kinda funny and there was no way i was gonna take it that far lol. She did fill out an intake form for me and kinda laughed about it but i just kinda went over what she wrote etc and then i did my thing. At the end she just said ok im gonna lay here for a while u can go up front and see Bonnie (the manager) she wasnt gettin up lol. So that kinda killed that whole "sell yourself" deal .. what she meant by that was i need to convince (or what sounded like begging to me) the clients that they HAVE to come in once a week like really push it which im not real comfortable with "U HAVE to get a massage once a week ...or your gonna die" lol cmon. I get asking them if they would like to reschedule reminding them that getting a massage regularly is very beneficial etc but im not gonna get all crazy now lol. Anyway i think it went well and if i get hired great if not then it was a GREAT practice experience and now ill know what to expect the next time around and hopefully i wont be so nervous. I def needed the practice so it was positive either way. Thank you guys for your support ill keep you posted if i hear anything!
