Pumpkin Pie Newbie...I'm baking a pumpkin pie and it says 425 degrees for 15...

...minutes then reduce heat at 375? and then cook for 35 minutes longer or until golden brown crust. but after the 15 minutes the crust was golden brown and almost gonna burn in spots but the filling obviously not done. I put foil on top and put the heat to 300 to let the filling cook, will this help or should I do something else? I really want it to turn out good

You can do one of two things.

1. Put foil around the crust before you ever put it in the oven. OR

2. Don't use a crust at all! I do this all the time. The crust, to me, is dry and flavorless, so I just pour the batter into the pie pan with no crust. It turns out fabulous! You just get the best part!

Take strips of foil and place around and over the rim and cook as directed. The foil will keep the crust from over cooking.

hey i just made pumpkin pie in home ec class last week! lol and some douche put salt in our sugar containers lol i think i know your problem you should get a pie collar its like a circle that covers the crust so it wont burn or you can make you on by cutting foil in a circle shape only covering the crust. thats what my cooking teacher told me
