Qualification initials on business cards: HELP!

I just completed my shiatsu therapy training in August and will complete my massage program in December.

As far as all the "initials" that go on your business card following your name:

In regard to the shiatsu part only, is it redundant to have: Certified Shiatsu Practitioner, ABT AOBTA?

In regard to massage: I am thinking that because I am in an unregulated state (MN) and not an LMT or a CMT, I will need to differentiate the shiatsu certification from the massage part.

Example: certified shiatsu practitioner & massage therapist (with this version I am not claiming to be a CMT or LMT)

So the card may say: "Certified Shiatsu Practitioner, ABT, AOBTA & Massage Therapist"

I hope this isn't too confusing and makes at least some sense. I just want to have my info correct and accurate. Please correct me if any of this is off base or repetitive. Thanks for your help.

well, in my opinion i wouldn't put all of that info on the front your card. i think people will wonder what the heck it all means. i like the sound of massage therapist/certified shiatsu practitioner. not too much info but tells who you are.

maybe on the back of your card you could put that you are an AOBTA®) member and what it means/why it's important. could use the back of the card to educate people on asian bodywork.

Hi. I can't say I know much of the "law" part, if any. But, I would think that if you are in an unregulated state, you should be able to place the information without risk. I would not, however, put ABT or AOBTA. I think it will only serve to confuse people.

How about something like (please ignore the little dots, but I coudln't figure out a way to center this:

I definitely go by keeping it simple. I really hated all the alphabet soup that I felt that no one besides those in the industry knew what they stood for. So I definitely would go with what was suggested above.

I see what you mean. I have heard people say though, that having your qualifications on the card, tends to make you look "impressive" or more qualified, and curious people may ask you what the letters mean, an opportunity to educate them.
