Hi, I've just joined Mixi to improve my Japanese skills and was wondering are there any rules I should know about?

I've already received a few messages from people, but no one seems to send friend requests. Is that normal? Should I be the one who sends it?

Do people post on other people's pages like facebook? Or is the wall/blog just for the owner and everything else is done via messages?

What other things should a 'facebook' user like myself know about Mixi?
