I received this when I requested notes on a MVA client that is now seeing me because she moved towns. For starters I called 24 hours after I sent the request and asked to make sure they had gotten it and the receptionist knew nothing about it and when I finally got to talk to the MT she was rude and then asked me why I even needed them, when the request even stated we wanted them for continuation of treatment. Maybe not necessary but I like to see what the other therapist has been doing and the progress so I can continue in the similar direction. So I was a bit like WTF when I got this for 7 tx's. :irked: Is it just me or for a MVA are these notes non-sufficient? I do my MVA notes very detailed so that insurance accepts the claim, even when it's not a MVA I still do alot more than visit one I did this and then for the following dates note that I did the same with no mm response?? Again is it just me? I know I can be an overachiever sometimes but, really? ok that's all I have I just wanted your opinion on these notes. Thanks!

I must admit I don't always take the best notes, but for MVAs I make sure to make good notes. I have a quick cheat chart that I use for quick reference, with areas to fill in more details. Then I have good notes to go from for reports.

I would have at least expected some SOAP notes.

It looks like you may have the back end of a narrative written in the DC's office.

If so, many times with an MVA, the massage therapy sessions are not outlined individually, especially if the case is from a clinic that does a lot of Personal Injury or Attorney-related work --- unless they have a large staff who are capable of much of the written detail work. It looks like this would have come from a clinic seeing a lot of volume with a minimal staff, is what I am saying.

I don't think they are the best of notes, but, if the clinic is one of "volume", I'd expect to see what you recieved -----> basic information and notation that the 6 subsequent visits showed only minimal to moderate changes in the affected areas.

It is unfortunate that in a clinical setting, many times the MT does not have the time or ability (and sometimes, the inclination) to write more detailed notes.

I work in a DC's office and do very detailed notes. And I happen to know a little of the clinic that this is from and just from info from my client that they aren't really a high colume place. My client also made the comment that every session got shorter and shorter as she would check the clock when she got into the room and when she was leaving. She said that by the end of her time there her massages that were suppose to be an hour were about 40-45 minutes long.... so the MT obviously had the extra 20 minutes at least to write notes. But I do see where you are coming from - not trying to say you are wrong.

I guess sometimes it just depends on who ur working for. I work for a DC once and they already had a form they used they wanted me to use. All I had to do was just check the boxes! This was at the beginning of my career and it was a bit rushed, now I use a form I created myself with specific soap notes. I also think that sometimes a LMT can get to tech. remember anyone is supposed to be able to read and understand ur notes. :altwink:

While I may not be the best notes taker in the world, I'm a little set back by the response you received and the lack of notes. I always do a follow-up call two days or so after a session addressing a specific/general issue and often note the call in my notes. (It generally gives me an idea of the effecacy of the work - sometimes.)
