I'm working on a gift certificate for Valentine's Day (finally got the flyers for the couple's classes done! Whew!). Playing around with the wording, I came up with one that says "Relax. I love you." DH says it "scares the hell out of him". (What? after 20+ years? Sheesh!) The card has a single red rose on it.

What do you all think? Cheesy?

I realize that "Relax. I love you." could be ambiguous- in more than one way. That's why I'm hesitating. VP is cheap enough, and if I order something else I don't mind paying for shipping on at the same time, I'll actually get them in plenty of time before V-Day sales. I will only order 10 anyway- I'll be *very* surprised if our V-Day gc sales do any better than Christmas did. OTOH, we're pushing the couples' class starting next week, and it's going to be held the two Saturdays following V-Day; perhaps *someone* will think getting a gc for the class will be a good idea! Or perhaps the class flyers will bring in some (separate) V-D gc sales. Who knows? It's all one great big experiment at this point anyway, LOL!

Thanks for the input, JLW. I wonder what the *menfolk* here will think of it?

GUYS: Would you buy a gc with that wording as a VD gift for your SO?

"Relax. I love you." ... nice, but as a man I feel it is somehow missing the mark. Also, you can market the "love" angle throughout the year: Valentine's Day, birthdays, anniversaries, honeymoons, pre-weddings, post-natal, pre-natal, Mother's Day, etc. Since you are doing a special order, consider how you might make the "love" theme more universal so you can continue using the remainder through the rest of the year.

Here are a few alternative wordings that popped to mind:

Because you deserve the very best...
Relax, my Love...
A Valentine Massage...
A Massage for the One I Love...
A Massage from the Heart...

If you find a wording that you'd be happy to continue using year-round, consider having the gift cards printed on double-sided business card stock. Customize both sides and get $250 for a reasonable price, more if you buy extra right away. You can always stick them into greeting cards with a dab of rubber cement for a more elaborate presentation, yet the recipient will only have to carry the (business) gift card.

Thanks for all the ideas and responses, guys. I've decided that since we do have a decent selection of GC's available in the office already, we do NOT have a "nice selection" of "extra" funds lying around to finance yet another purchase, and I have lost just about any "selection" of time and creativity to work on it with, we'll just forget about it for this year and stick with what we have. Maybe next year. Hallmark, I ain't! :
