Review: Amy at Chang's

Okay. I am a sucker for a good massage. So, based on Perry's recommendation, I made an appointment to see Shirley at Chang's. Amy answered a phone and made an appoint for Shirley. First of all, this was my first time at Chang's, so I don't know what she looks like. When I got there, a matue chinese woman greeted me (I'm really bad at guessing age). I asked her she is Shirley. She said yes. She was very polite and sincerely. Let the massage begins...
Actual room is fairly big, and there are plenty of space that you can work around. Also very clean as well. Anyway, massage was very nice. Actually it was very very good. Started with a hard massage that did wonders for my back. As soon as the hard massage was over, she stepped outside of the room for a minutes and came back with hot towels. She put those towels on my back. She told me that after a hard massage, putting on hot towel over the muscle really helps. I gotta say, it felt so wonderful. Soft massage part was very sensual. Very light stroke that gave me all the goose bumps. Finally, the teasing on my private area (including the place where sun don't shine). She gave me a nice HJ while exploring my very private hole. When I finally exploded, she cleaned up very nice for me, and served a ginseng tea. Overall, it was one incredible experience.
This is when the story becomes little weird. While I was sipping a ginseng tea, she asked me whether I liked the massage or not. I told her that I really enjoyed the massage. Then she told me that she is very happy that I enjoyed her massage, and she is not Shirley. Her name is Amy. She took Shirley's place, because Shirley had an appointment today.
I don't know how I should feel. One hand, I had one of the best experience, on the other hand, I can't help but feeling that I didn't get a massage from whom I originally inteneded. I even asked Amy she is Shirley before our session, and she said she is. Since I had such a good time, I am going to let this one slide, but I just hope that she is honest enough to tell me that truth.

Anyway as far as massage goes, she is definite repeat.

personally it seems disgusting and highly unprofessional of them to switch identities like that. ESPECIALLY since you asked her beforehand if she was Shirley. Pure misrepresentation. That's something I don't think we should respect.

On the other hand...

If you can get over the fact that the establishment blatently lied to your face like that, you'll probably know who's who next time you go. Heck, it sounds like you'd have no complaints about seeing Amy again.

P.S. - how long was the session and how much did you pay?

The rates are posted in the spa and on their website I believe.

Amy has longer hair than shirley and is also taller and heavier. Her english is not perfect either but its never caused any problems with me.

I don't know if I would be so Draconian, GLG, but I definitely do agree with you that this should not happen. Period.

There must be an explanation: could it have been language, Meridian? You probably know that I am a frequent flyer at Chang's [no, they don't give frequent flyer points, damn it!], so next time I go I will ask Shirley about it. Or, better yet, why don't you call Shirley and ask her?

Of course, the funny part is the irony that you got what you were looking for and were more than satisfied. That is "curiouser and curiouser"!

My vote is with Perry. I think its the language issue where she may have miss understood.

I think Shirley is busier than Amy, and is trying to give some business to Amy. I don't think it's a language issue, and as a business practice I think they need to be more honest. If Shirley is busy for the time requested, then give the client the opportunity to choose another time, or be clear that Amy will do the massage. Amy is good, but in my opinion Shirley, with more experience, is better.

So I was there yesterday, and seeing Anand's review of Shirley on another thread reminded me of what I said.

The way I understand it, the problem is cultural. Remember, Amy is a recent immigrant to Canada and she was a physician in China, where they have different ideas about client relations, etc.

Bottom line: Problem corrected. It won't happen again (!?) I think Amy now understands that, here, it is 100% up to the client to decide who he wants to see.

I guess only time will tell, but in my books she deserves another chance... particularly because she is so talented. I also think she is a very nice person and I'd love to see her prosper.

In my opinion you can't lose with Amy. Although I prefer Shirley, when I had the pleasure of both of them, it was Amy that piqued my curiousity.

I agree with Perry, Shirley is very busy, and slipping in to see Amy would be a lot easier that an hour of Shirley's time

It was about a year ago that I had a similar experience....

I phoned ahead and had spoken to Shirley seeking an appointment. My assumption was that my appointment was with Shirley. When I got there, Shirley took me upstair and told me that she had a big appointment upcoming and she won't be available to serve me. Indeed, I got Amy or my other option was to walk away.

Since I drove all the way up the DVP from the downtown area, and I had a two hour time gap for my next job, so I stayed.........

And that was my last time going up to Changs........

Well, Bill, may I suggest you try again? I know you were disappointed and I would have been, too, but it's really a win/win situation if you get Amy rather than Shirley. Or vice versa.

Shit happens in this biz. You'd be surprised how often it is the doing of the clients rather than the MPA. They run late; they make appointments and don't show up or cancel; they book 30 minutes and then decide they want 60; they want to take a long rest afterwards and there is no other room available... the ladies at Chang's try to please everyone, as do most of the other quality MP's, but shit happens and Shirely if you were expecting Amy or the other way around is not a loss... just a different experience!

Also, the massage at Chang's is very hard physical work for the ladies and they need rest between appointments because it is not just a rub'n tug! Sometimes, if they have had very busy day, they just don't have the strength to do a decent job for you, so you are better off with the other if she is rested.

Having been at the receiving end of their ministrations, for about an hour each time, I can vouch for the fact that it is extremely hard work. I am sure they were tired too!

Out of an hour session, I have her really work on my back...lower and upper, for at least a half hour.

This really is work...no light teasing ru..

I usually come out slightly sore for 48hrs following a session, but the ultimate benefits are outstanding. I regain full elasticity, ease of movement, and am pain free for at least a week after.

My first experience at Changs, I thought I was seeing Shirley, but when I arrived,(it was an early day appointment, 11:00am), Amy greeted me and told me Shirley would be unavailable due to a personal issue with a very sick relative. I went ahead anyway, and was not dissapointed, in fact, I prefer Amy to Shirley now. Although, some of that has to do with the fact my now deceased mother's name was Shirley....don't even go there!!!!

All truths are partial: what you said and what I said, too!

But I agree with you that it is impossible to operate a clinic with two or more ladies where one gets all the clients and does all the work while the other/s sit and twirl their thumbs.

The problem, for me, is the way it is done. I am quite happy with either Shirley or Amy: both are excellent but, of course, different. But when I make an appointment with one, tell me right off who I am going to see and keep your word!

I agree with the above comment. And what's with comments by " anand" and "Plan8" about massaging being hard work ? Does this somehow should excuse Amy from lying straight to his face about her name?!

Meridian, as long as you remind yourself that Chang's is just another Rub & Tug then you have nothing to worry about. Yes, they may be better at "Rub" than other places and other places are better at "Tug". I hope you don't actually believe anything being said by a MPA in such places.

But if you are one of these people that put Chang's on a pedestal for some reason and treat them as a professional RMT business, you have a conscious dilemma because such things would be considered completely unprofessional and do not deserve your repeat business.
