Another long overdue review. No need to rush to go find Ruby, she is on vacation in Asia right now and wont be back for a while.
A few reviews and questions had been posted about Ruby so here are some answers. Top Asian Massage (aka Ruby of Windermere) is operated out of the basement of a home in remote SW corner of the city. It is located on a stereotypical suburban street where families with children dominate the landscape. The house where Top Asian is located is no different, without the exact address, there is zero chance anyone would have guessed that a home based massage business operated within.
Upon entry into the basement, you will notice that there is one shower, one washroom, one desk, one chair and one massage room. I ventured one guess that only one masseuse operates out of that establishment and it is Ruby. If you do see the ad on Kijiji, the pictures of the rooms are 100% accurate. Ruby is a petite powerhouse of an asian masseuse. I would guess that she is in her 30s, slim and fit. If you are expecting a runway model, look elsewhere, Ruby had chosen a plain minimalist look.
The massage room is on the cold side. Decorated with various Chinese massage diagrams and a simple table, there is nothing really to write about it other than the fact that it can be cold; if you go during the winter, it is cold in there. The other drawback is that it is clear that a family lives upstairs; on any given evening, you will hear all sorts of activities happening above your head which can make it a little hard to relax.
As a masseuse, Ruby does not look like she should have the power to deliver proper deep tissue massage but clever use of her feet and weight make up for her lack of upper body strength. Where heavy hammering is required, she delivers it with her legs which to me was heavenly. At $95 an hour, she is more expensive than most local asians but she is worth it.
Ruby is very shy and very choosy about her clientele so it is YMMV whether she would even take your first appointment. If you see her ad on Kijiji (search for Top Asian Massage), that means she is looking for new clients.
I cannot and will not contradict anything which has been written about Ruby already so I am going to stop here. A good masseuse, hard to get to, hard to book but worth it.
