i bought an item that i won on bidding on 7/7/10 for 7.99 and it ended that day 1 minute later so i won :) and i put my info and all to purchase it with my credit card and i put the 5.99 shipping not the 2.99 shipping and then finished the purchase. and now the "company" confirmed my payment and gave me my tracking id yesterday and now that i checked the shipping says 2.99 and it says the total was 10.98 cents or something like that, any thought why?
 
Usually, shipping is just one price. You've not explained very clearly why there would have been $2.99 shipping AND $5.99 shipping. However, it may be the the higher shipping rate was for international people - and you are not international. It might have been for express shipping - and it might not be available. It might have been some 'generic' shipping amounts that they use for both lightweight and heavier shipping and your item qualified for the lighter weight amount of shipping. Whatever, they have saved you $3, so I would not be upset about it.
