Should I stay with my boyfriend if he won't introduce me to his friends?

We have been together 18 months and I have never met any of his friends - and have met his mum only once. He says there has not been an appropriate time yet and that he will introduce me when that time comes. Is this normal? Is he embarrassed of me?

He might be the sort of person who likes to keep different parts of his life separate. He may feel as though he cant act the same with you, with his mates around- and his mum. He might just want to spend time alone with you.

It could be he is embarrassed of his Friends. Enjoy the peace, friends bring many problems with them.

he wouldn't be with you if he was embarrassed of you. maybe ders sumit more serious going on that he doesnt want you to know off eg. family problems

I would not say it's normal. A few other issues may be at play here so lets throw a few out on the table for you. He may be afraid of being teased by his friends, not teased about you personally but because he has a girl. He may be afraid of some competition from one or more of his friends, if he is insecure. He is not embarrassed by you as no guy would spend more than one evening with an embarrassing date much less 18 months.

18 months seems a long time period to have only met his mum once, and never to have met any of his friends.... i bet even his mum is confused why she's only met you once. You need to ask him whether he is embarrased by you, and you need to find out why, as this is unusual, he should be showing you off like there's no tomorrow. I take it that you've introduced him to loads of your friends and your parents then? Best of luck x

I wouldn't instantly assume that your boyfriend is embarrassed of you. Thinking like that can put alot of stress on your relationship, as well as yourself personally, as it will eventually push your esteem downward. You never know if maybe he is embarrassed of his friends! They may bring up embarrassing stories, or maybe he just doesn't even have close friends that he can introduce you to. He may even be the type of person that is very introverted about their personal life, and wants to keep friends and his girlfriend seperated until he offically feels he is ready. I wouldn't break up with someone just because you havn't met his friends. Make sure you talk to him, before you jump to conclusions.
