singing bowls

Hi does anyone have a singing bowl? I understand its another way of recharging crystals (when I went on a crystal workshop she had a singing bowl), but don't know much about them. Have looked on ebay and been told the difference between them, ie some are silver plated, others are metals, etc.

Does anyone have one and do you use it to charge your crystals or just for decoration, etc? These are the ones i have seen but any where you can recommend

I have several brass ones that I use. I put the crystals inside the bowl, then 'make it sing' - the vibrations 'cleanse' the crystals. I also use the bowls to 'cleanse' a room and my own energy field. I love them.

My parents brought me two back from India (cost them about £15) the same size bowls over here would have come to over £50!

It's nice if you can buy one 'in person' as you can try it out to see if you like the sound. Some websites selling them have sound recordings you can listen to.

If you are ever visiting Cornwall there's a shop in Falmouth that sells them (if it's still there - it was two years ago).

I actually took a long shot and bought mine from ebay (quite a while back now). Traditionally they should be made of 7 different metals (you can look up the metals easily enough, I can't recall them all myself), and hand beaten, rather than cast.

The sound does vary from bowl to bowl, obviously the larger the bowl, the deeper the sound. Mine is about 10" diameter and the sound is just perfect with excellent resonant frequencies. The small ones are just too high pitched for my liking and the really large ones somehow a little too over the top. I guess your best bet would be to find some 'in person' of different sizes and listen to the different sounds yourself to get an idea for the frequencies that resonate with you.

Yes, I've used them to cleanse crystals before, although there are many ways to cleanse crystals, and the bowl is not just for that purpose in my house.

We were at a Mind Body Spirit event recently and there were some fab singing bowls on sale. The guy was demonstrating how to use them and made beautiful sounds with them. He then actually placed a massive bowl onto someones head and proceeded to play it.

Does anyone use a crystal singing bowl (as opposed to a metal one)? I have a therapist friend who has a very large crystal singing bowl and she let me try it out once. It was magical.

Yeah, Scott - love those crystal singing bowls. Unfortunately the big ones are horrendously expensive ... maybe when I win the lottery!

I use singing bowls for cleansing spaces and shifting stuck energy in people. Nothing like the penetrating metal sound. And yes, they are good for cleansing crystals - Metal Element is the child of Earth Element. Crystals are Earth, singing bowls (metal ones, anyway!) are Metal. Crystals also like being buried in the Earth, but it's easy to lose them if you bury them in the garden, so I usually just put them in my plant pots!
