With one end of a twisted thread in her mouth, and the other end looped around her finger, Neha Gupta skims a customer's skin, removing all the hair from her face.
It's a practice she learned in India, and brought to Pikesville 4.5 years ago. And, it's a skill that's help her develop what might be the largest spa in Pikesville: Neha Threading Salon & Spa.
"I just loved threading and henna," the former hair-stylist-turned-business-owner said earlier this week.
And her new, 6,000-square-foot spa at 1501 Reisterstown Road in Pikesville allows her and her 18 employees and stylists to do just that, plus more wellness services, including Vinyasa, beginner and Barre yoga, massage, facials, mineral baths and wraps.
Zumba classes are coming soon.
At the Parkville resident's Pikesville salon, there's a vichy shower where you can lie after a salt scrub or body wrap to have the treatment removed.
And there's the "Divinity Room:" A place where "a couple can go for a massage and facial ... to enjoy it together," Gupta said.
In that room are two massage tables, hydrotherapy tubs, a fireplace and a steam room/shower.
Neha Threading also offers hair styling services, skincare and nails services; too many services to mention in this article.
To explore what the salon and spa offers, visit the Neha Threading Salon & Spa website.
It's open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
