Since opening its doors in February 2021, Knead Therapy Massage and Bodywork has brought massage therapy and bodywork services to the Summerville community. The business was founded by Catherine Rundall, a massage therapist with more than a decade of experience who said she considers Knead Therapy a hub for relaxation, pain relief and wellness.
Located at 1710 Old Trolley Road, Suite E, Knead Therapy offers services that cater to different needs, from relaxation to chronic pain management. Rundall, a Nevada School of Massage Therapy graduate, specializes in Sarga Bodywork — a deep myofascial technique using a silk strap for precise, barefoot massage techniques.

"We believe that 'Everybody needs to be kneaded,'" Rundall said, reflecting on the company’s mission to provide skilled and compassionate care. "We want to create a wellness destination that offers expert bodywork and a sense of peace and healing."
Knead Therapy offers various treatments, including Swedish-style relaxation massages (Knead Relaxing), deep tissue and trigger point therapy for chronic muscle pain (Knead Fixing) and prenatal massages (Pre-Baby Kneads) for expectant mothers. The business offers personalized treatment plans, ensuring each client’s needs are met precisely and carefully.
As an active Greater Dorchester/Summerville Chamber of Commerce member, Knead Therapy is involved in the local community. The company sponsors events like Leadership Dorchester’s recent Garden Stroll and supports Alzheimer’s services through The ARK's Dancing with the Ark Stars event.
Looking ahead, Rundall has big plans for Knead Therapy.
"We want to grow into a leading wellness destination," she said, outlining future goals to expand the business and build a dedicated team of skilled body workers.
Knead Therapy recently celebrated a grand re-opening at its new location, marking its growth. The business plans to continue increasing its community engagement with upcoming volunteer work at The Wall That Heals event in October.
