Therapies that complement reflexology?

Hi,

I'm just about to start my AOR Reflexology course. I've also just completed my Reiki 2 course. I loved the way Reiki complements reflexology and I'm now looking into further therapies that will do the same. I'm very interested in therapies such as EFT.

I'm also interested in specific areas of reflexology such as fertility and hope to train in this once I've completed my AOR course.

Those of you who are already qualified Reflexologists can I ask what other therapies do you practice? Or have you chosen to exclusively practice reflexology?

Like you I practice Reflexology and Reiki 2, and I also offer Aromatherapy massage and products. I went on to trian in maternity reflexology which I really love, and also sub-fertility and hormonal problems. Next Febuary I am going to do the Baby reflex course as this will fit in really nicely with all I already offer and follows on from the maternity.

I've been doing reflexology for 10 years, also a member of the AoR and came to Foot Reading through working with so many feet. You might have heard of Chris Stormer who wrote Language of the Feet and Imre Somogyi who wrote Reading Toes. I also have written a book called the Art of Foot Reading.
This is another perspective on looking at the whole person via their feet. I teach Foot Reading workshops and find how feet show the true soul of a person absolutely fascinating.

I'd say go with the therapies you are drawn to. I chose to study Thai Foot Massage and Metamorphic Technique and find these go well with reflexology but you might go for something altogether different like Reiki or Hypnotherapy or EFT. All therapies can complement another so go with what feels right.

bach flower remedies are fantastic with reflexology. Its good to have more than 1 "tool " in your toolbox, I am looking to do acupuncture next.

There are various Reflexology add-ons such as VRT, colour reflexology, hand reflexology, and the foot reading as already mentioned.

I think Indian Head Massage goes nicely with Reflexology leaving the client feeling like they've had an all body treatment. I have a lot of clients who have these two treatments together.

My main therapies a few years ago were Reiki and reflexology. Then I discovered Theta Healing. For a year I worked with all three therapies together.

Theta Healing changes belief patterns that create our lives. I found that by clearing limiting beliefs and then doing reflexology I got a good balance between the mind and the body. And Theta Healing is easy to learn.

Now almost all my work is in Theta Healing. However, I do think that a body therapy, like reflexology and massage helps to clear the body of the toxins that have been energetically released with Theta Healing.

It is all fascinating work.

There are loads of therapies that can complement reflexology. Thai foot massage can help to expand technique used by western trained reflexologists, but doesn't has the precise mental intent to heal like western reflexology has. For many years I practised reiki-reflexology, but I had to learn massage to increase my business which it did!

I do have a client that responds well to foot reflexology for about 45 minutes then I give her acupuncture for 30 mins afterward specifically to boost immunity and lung energy. Combination works well for her.

As for exclusive practice of reflexology, that would be (at least for me) financial suicide. Still have yet to hear of someone making an exclusive living from reflex.

Here! I've been an exclusive Reflexologist for over five years (six in June 2010), and have a full-time practice (which is 40-50 hours of sessions a month for me). I think one of the biggest differences across the pond here is that we have very few practicing Reflexologists in the Boston area and I've created a nice niche in women's health - getting referrals from reproductive specialists, OBs, midwives - and pediatrics. I have a very mixed client base (i.e. age, initial complaint, wellness goals, etc.) but do remarkably well in client returns (maintenance sessions).

I also do freelance writing work which gives me 5-10% of my annual, combined income.

Glad to hear you are successful with your reflexology practice. Reflexologists in the UK are everywhere, which is good of course that it's very easy to find a practitioner. Not so easy to make a living. Also in the UK healthcare is funded by the state, so it's not in our culture to pay privately for healthcare.
