Quick question to you all.

What makes you tip the MPA? When she gives you the unexpected service?........ maybe unexpected is not the word but rather a better than expected performance?

Here's how I look at it. And I have to quote Forrest Gump on this: It's like a box of chocolate. You never know what you get until you open it.

There were times when I walk in to an MP & got the MPA who I don't find too attractive but I went along. I know she is not going to make much for just the regular room fee but at the same time, I am really into her either. So I ask for the $20 extra rather than the expensive ones. I know she would the the full of that.

What I am trying to say is that when you are in that business, you should know how much you are worth. If you know you are not the hottie hottie, you will not be compensated accordingly. On the other hand, how I see it is why even bother to get into the business when you don't have the stuff?

Maybe I have gone off track about the tipping part. My whole point is that, shouldn't the extras one asked for be considered as tips already? It's like the restaurants who has already put a 10% on top of the bill for gratuity, why should I be tipping on top of that?

As cheap as I might sound, I think I tip well considering the circumstances. Any comments???

The tipping is for the extras, if you pay for the extras and tip is that double dipping, tipping

I saw a girl @ Alphacare who rocked my world and only wanted $40, I gave her an extra $30, but when I go for a 1-hour session at a top spa and pay $260 - that's it baby!

I've watched a lot of the talk about supply and demand, and economic realities etc.

All I know is that in 1984 in Edmonton I paid $40 for 30 mins, Release was $20 extra, T was $40, N was $60 and NR was $80. I never heard of BS until I came to Ontario.

Now it seems to me that the rates have not really changed that much in the intervening 20 years. Any thoughts???

At the spa where I go it's $40/30mins and $20 for N. I tried to tip more a couple times and they refused.

P.S. It is YMMV though. First time I went it was $20 T and $40. N ... now after a few visits... I get the special treatment and very nice kiss goodnight too.

The tipping is for N, NR, BS, ect.. Anything else would be uncivilized.

BTW - the Forrest Gump quote is: "You never know what you're gonna get". Not to be a prick or anything.

MPA or escorts are not minimum wage earnings like in a resturant.

Tipping to me is totally out of the question for a professional service and as someone said you pay for the extras you want. There is no reason to tip. If sexworkers want to be treated like professionals they should be paid like professionals and they make a very good hourly wage. They certainly don't need tips.

And I've never been asked to tip and have never had any problems in Canada.

Some guys I think tip because it makes them feel more macho or something. I value money and don't need to feel big. I realize if I was very wealhty I may have a different attitude but most of us are not wealthy enough to just toss money around in unneeded unprofessional tipping.

While I agree, that tipping above and beyond is certainly not necessary, I can't speak for all, but most of us are *not* on a hourly wage or even comission system. That's why we do value tips. But as I said, not necessary.

From talking to some mpas, I found out that some mp owners give the girls $10 from the DF while other owners give the girls nothing. This means that some mpas earn their money from tips only. That's why I always tip the mpas just to make sure that they are at least making something from massaging me. I certainly don't expect them to work for free. How much I tip them depends on how happy they're making me. If I feel that they tried to make my session pleasurable, I always tip them at least $40 because I know that they don't have an hourly wage and that sometimes, they may have to wait another hour or two before they get another client. If I really wasn't pleased with how my session is going, then I usually take just the regular massage but I'll tell them I'll be leaving them a tip anyways and I'll give them $10 at the end.

Well one time I went to see a lass that I normally get body slides from but told her that this time I just wanted a really hard massage cuz my back was acting up. I gave her the usual tip at the end of the session $100 and she gave me $60 back. I asked why, and she said she would feel guilty taking more. I then said well ok, lets split the difference and she still wouldn't. When I left, I snuck a 20 into her pocket.

Next time I saw her she gave me the 20 back... talk about customer service

Alot depends on the girl, your familiarity with her and the spa. At the top-tier establishments, the girls do very well on tips and are more likely to refuse an additional gift above the required donation. At a less lucrative spa, they are more likely to accept it with or without a resulting increase in services. Likewise, if you are a regular, she may cut you a break once in a while or return money if you try to overpay.

You also have to understand how the payment structure works... do they get part of the door fee, do they work off room tips only, and is that tip structure the same for every client. If that is the situation, then an additional gifts should only be for services that are above and beyond the agreement (i.e. you pay for a NR but get a BS), and only at the discretion of the client.

Don't forget MM that at some spas they take a percentage of the girls tips.

I tend to look at this as a mathematical issue. I take price as the numerator and service as the denominator. The lower the resulting number, the more likely I am to tip. So, I've tipped at B&S, but not at its neighbor up the street, because I paid $120 at one and $180 at the other for the same service.

Hey, I am so glad this topic got to everybody, even with some new threads. Somone mentioned about tipping at B&S. In fact, that was the only time I tipped as well.... to violet. She was a very good MPA, though with good skills. No rush & we stayed on until the whole time, not one of those 15 minute quickies. Actually it was well past the closing time & I really respect the professionalism there. She even said, " you paid for the time & you will get it ". That's how I like it & therefore I tipped her. But someone mentioned that the " above AND beyond " service which I agreed, too! Anyway, thanks for the overwhelming response, guys!

To each his own lunar but I find that the quality of massage varies regardless of whether I tip or not. Let's face it, we all know who the good mpa's are and they never disappoint. Feel free to tip however if it makes you feel better, I don't feel it's necessary unless I encounter a rare gem. I'm with Dave in Phoenix however in that I already pay a good amount without a "gift".
