Guys, seriously, just dress nice, and be friendly, I have been using a passport that has been expired since 2002 with a picture of me from junior high and I have never had any problem going to mexico, cananda, and el salvador, so I really don't know what the problem is? Just follow the golden rule with people ie escorts, bgs, sgs, sentries, etc...just treat people the way you wanna be treated, and I have been to TJ once every month or two for about 4 yrs now.

Here is my two cents about passports.

I have been to TJ about 6 times since the passport requirement. Each time, I have gone with a friend who did not bring his passport. All friends are US Citizens. I have always showed my passport and been waived through.

Here are the results.

Black friend - no passport but he had California Driver's License - border agent asked why he didn't have passport and friend replied he did not know he had to get one. border agent told him to get one and let him on through quickly.

Asian friend - no passport, but CDL and birth certificate - border agent told him to get passport and let him through quickly.

Indian Friend (punjab) - He had passport and CDL - border agent talked to him for quite a long time, but he did not get moved to secondary checkpoint, eventually let him through. Maybe 5 minutes

Persian Friend - He had CDL but no passport. My friend is a doctor, but damn, the border agents talked to him for about 30 minutes, eventually they let him through.

Mexican friend - he had passport and CDL - passport was scanned and he was let through.

Bottom line on my experiences with my friends. It seems as if the border agents play it by race. Black and asian friends got through really quick. Dark skinned Indian and Persian were interrogated.

My advice if you don't have passport, if you're white, when you walk up to the border guard. You hand them your CDL and military ID, then you start talking. HELLO, HOW ARE YOU. That way the can detect your American accent and not a foreign one. Smile and don't look like a undercover terrorist.

Nowhere in that complete post did I offer advice. However, if you look at my other 2 posts in this thread, you'll see that in one I offered a link to the DHS border crossing page for advice and the other one is right here....

Why do people who don't know post advice? Anyway, officially you're supposed to have a passport or copy of your birth certificate. If you don't, they will ask to see other ID, insurance, credit cards, etc and ask you questions to make sure you're "American".

first of all, I am the friendliest person on this planet. I have several hundred friends who can tell you this. I am super cooperative. I was there around 3:00 a.m. in morning with my friend. He can tell you this too. Since there are not that many people, they decided to mess with me. I think they were testing me to see if I would disobey them and try to walk through then they can throw me back. I stood my ground because if they threw me back then I can sue them. I dont know what they were thinking at that time. Never take a chance. I used my drivers license for twenty years going to tijuana. That was the first time this happened to me. You dont want to be made an example. the police told me , if you dont have a passport then take the numbers off of your birth certificate and put it on your drivers license. there are two numbers.

We have a border agent that comes to our parties. He wants to remain anonymous for a variety of reasons. He has assured me that any American citizen gets right through without a passport, except if he has a warrant. All they have to do is verify he is allowed to cross. Often they just wave you through without even running your ID.

JohnK, are you sure you did not do anything to piss off the agent? After a Anglo woman was pissing 'n' moaning with the agent, they took her forcibly into one of the back rooms. My agent told me they will usually just make them sit for a few hours to give them something to think about.

If you have a DL you are 100% in their computer. You are suppose to have a passport, but I would say at a minimum 25% of those crossing do not. I don't know what threat you posed to be detained 3 hours, but I have many many friends and they have not been detained 1 minute with nothing more than a DL.

If you have not applied for a passport then you are not on the computer. Bring a birth certificate for sure. They stopped me a couple of years ago because I did not have a passport. Ever. Driver's license might work if you are in there database. For the peasant who said do I have a turbin, I work for the US government and I have a business. I have a corporate American voice. Still, they stopped me for 3 hours at the border. Be safe then sorry. Leave the drama in tijuana not at the border.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'm going to take this advice to heart and make sure I plan everything accordingly. I'm also going to put in for my passport card, but I know it's going to take way too long. I won't have it by the time my birthday rolls around, that is why I'm planning this trip without it.

Sampson is correct about really not needing a passport. I always carry mine but I have seen many, many people who do not have them and have never seen anyone given a hard time. Usually, they just say, "You really need to get a passport, Sir," or something along those lines. Often, the agents just wave them through.

Having said that, the truth is you should really get a passport or a pass card or both. One day, some gumball with one too many screws loose is going to do something stupid somewhere to get himself on the tele for his 15 seconds of fame and then security is going to be tightened immediately and that just happens to be the day you are cruzin' la Zona ...

I see many, many people cross without a passport. On a recent trip with my friend Burt, I pulled out my DL just to prove the point. Just waved through.

YOU NEED A PASSPORT. I got stuck at the border for 3 hours without a passport once and I did a lot of begging and pleading. Go early during the day to get a room. Get the room on the alley side of las cascadas. They will give you a room. The other side which is the same side as adelitas, they will always say they have no rooms. They are the same rooms. $250 is good for two girls since you will already spend for the $40 room now you are down to $210 and you will buy drinks. If you dont buy drinks for the girls, the girls will cost you $60 and the alley girls $30. I usually get three girls and somehow I am well over $300. I usually buy drinks. Hong Kong bar will make you buy a beer at night for $3.50 but you can tip the guy a buck to get in. Have fun

Although you are technically correct about the subtle differences between the two, the major differences are really not that stark of a contrast. You can get good service in both; you can get ho-hum service in both. Definitely go visit both. It is very easy to find chicas in both places.


Although I have never stayed in either overnight, they are both okay. Other mongers have reported getting a room in one of the upper floors. The chicas do not take the mongers up to the upper floors for "arribas" so it is much quieter but it is my understanding that if you are staying there, you can take your chica to your floor.

Personally, I have never done it, but supposedly, you can take a SG or a BG to either La Leyva or Hacienda de Santiago -- both of which are very close. La Levya is next to Chicago Club and Hacienda de Santiago is one block west of Adelita's. Of the two, I much prefer Hacienda. However, my personal favorite hotel close to la Zona is Hotel Espana which is on Revolution between 3rd and 4th. It is very clean and chica-friendly. I have never tried to take a BG or a SG there, though. I have only taken escorts or BGs that I met before or after their shift.

I'm definitely going to read your post a couple of times to make sure I fully grasp its meaning and also to better understand my own intentions.

To be honest, I haven't really considered what I want while I'm down there. I'm mostly looking to get drunk (not wasted, just drunk) and sample the clubs, but end the night with a decent lady. I'm also looking for a safe hotel that I could leave my things (nothing too valuable) at without too much fear of being ripped off or having my room broken into.

I think for now I'm just going to wing it. I don't have any real plans, but I definitely want to be in the middle of the action, even if my room quality is going to suffer as a result. I'll just bring my own blanket/pillow case, I guess.

Divest, you have to decide if you're going for quantity or quality. As I see it, you have four choices:

One: QUANTITY. If you want Quantity, you can use that $200 toward about 5-6 street girls (assuming you need a few bucks for taxi, smokes, beer, tip, etc.) but they will be 15 minute wham-bams where you get NO GFE, and have to negotiate just for them to take off their clothes or go CBJ.

Two: QUALITY. If you want a good looking, clean, GFE (awesome!), you could use that $200 toward Sampsonrico's favorite place, Mexicolindobar.com The site will have the pix of the girls, or a way to see the pix. The girls run about $150, the room is $30, the taxi is $15 (iirc), so that's about $200 - but you should expect to pay a bit more to tip the lady if she is as she promises.

Three: MIXTURE ONE. If you want pretty good looking chicks who will perform a prefunctory CBJ and get fully naked without bargaining, but still give you a performance akin to a street girl, go for a bar girl. For $200 you can probably score a couple of bar girls at about 60-100 each, and the remaining money will have to go to taxi, drinks, tips, the room, etc. Adelitas, Chavelas, Hong Kong, etc. Expect them to ask $100 or more plus the room of $5-10. You can sometimes get them down to $40 or $60 depending on your looks and their desperation, but I usually am happy to get them to take me for $80.

Four: MIXTURE TWO. I just re-read your OP, and saw you have $250 to spend, not just $200, so you could do this: Use an escort, then have the taxi return you to the Zona instead of La Frontera, and window shop and utilize the services of a street girl, then take a taxi to the frontera.

PS- if I were going to stay overnight and do the bargirl scene, I would use the hotel's rooms for the action, but stay at Ceaser's on Revolution. It appears to be a nice place for $30, but I don't know if it is girl friendly. It just doesn't have that same "nasty" sheet/bedding that the Zona hotels all have.

PSS- I don't have any dog in the fight, so to speak, as far as preferring one escort service over any other. I have used MLB 3x, and have dealt with Sampson each time and been quite pleased and very happy. Sometimes happier than others, but always happy. I haven't used any of his competitors ever. My suggestions and descriptions are based on my experiences only. The more research I do, the more I'm finding that maybe Adelita's would be a better bet in the long run. It seems like it's easier to find girls there and there's less overall pressure on me to approach them. HK just sounds like it's a ridiculously overcrowded strip bar where the woman are all basically ignoring you and advertising shit you can't touch. Also, from what I've read, Adelita's has less bullshit charges (the robe charge would be a good example of this).

My main question and concern is the condition of the hotel that is connected to Adelita's (Hotel Coahuila). Is it (Hotel Coahuila) as nice as the one above Hong Kong (Hotel Cascadas) for an overnight stay? I want to sleep somewhat comfortably. I know I'm not going to find a great hotel in the area, but I'm mostly aiming for something that's not completely shitty either. Another concern is that I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to take bargirls back to any hotel that isn't directly connected with the bar they're working in? I've read a couple differing answers to this particular question and the overall consensus seems to be "no", but can anyone who has experience with this kind of thing maybe give me a tip?
