treatments in the workplace

The Occupational Health dept where I work are looking at setting up a facility for therapists to provide treatments to staff. I've registered my interest in providing treatments and have been told although details are not sorted yet, the plan is for the hospital to provide the room for free so that therapists can charge greatly reduced rates.

I'm only just in the process of setting up a therapy business from home, and don't have any clients yet, so this is all new to me, but I got to thinking: How reduced do they think the rates should be? OK there might be a good supply of clients, but I would still be providing equipment/towels/oils, etc.

Does anyone else here provide treatments in a workplace, and if so do you charge less and if so how much less.

I have been providing treatments to staff at a local company in their Occ. Health Dept. for a few years where I do not have to pay for the hire of the room, they provide couch and couch roll, plus they book in the clients so all I do is turn up. My normal prices at home where I work the rest of the time are £18 for half hour. At the company I charge £6.50 for quarter of an hour and £13 for half an hour. Dont know if that helps, but I feel that is fair in v/o the benefits that the company provide.

Hi,

I worked in the health service and our occi health had the same provisions for staff. For example an indian head massage was about £5 - 10 cheeper than the normal price as were most other therapies. I hope this helps.

I offer discount to workplace clients of around £5 per treatment based on the fact that I don't have to pay for the treatment room and I am fully booked the days I am in. I book in the clients myself, I guess that if someone from the organisation was filling the diary that I might take more off?

You just weight up what being there saves you, that might include the fact that there is a large pool of potential clients, any advertising that you can do onsite etc. I would say be careful not to go in too cheap and undersell yourself, it's worth considering also that if your fees are hugely under what you charge in clinic/home visits that employees would be unlikely to visit you outwith the workplace.

we also have a therapist once a month at work via occ health at work she charges £13 for 1/2 hour

Hello, I visit just one large company near me, I only charge £10 for a half hour session. We researched it quite well and found that the people who needed the therapies the most, were the ones who could not afford to pay more than £10, some can book the full hour if they want. The whole day gets completely booked out and we dont pay anything for the room. Its quite stressful though as you have to keep strict timekeeping which is completely different to how I work at home. I hss been good experience for me as the corporate market is very different to what I am normally used to, I think I'll be doing more work in this market so its a good grounding for future work.
