Trivia questions in email newsletters

For those of you who have an email newsletter: Do you ever include trivia questions for your clients to respond to, with the first one answering correctly winning something?

I am considering adding a trivia section to my next mailing to try and engage the people on my mailing list. Perhaps offer a coupon for a discount on bodywork to the winner. Maybe have the trivia be massage related so everyone can learn something new...

Thoughts? Good idea/bad idea?

Does anyone know of any resources for massage trivia questions? I think they should be questions that would fairly easy to look up an not too esoteric.

To be fair on everyone, I would do it as a drawing from the correct answers. Not everyone checks their email frequently.

It would be a great way to see how many people actually read the newsletter. ;-)

I have email newsletters, not for massage, and it might be something interesting to do. We often wonder how many people read it. (Usually we send a newsletter when we update our retail website, and they run to look and don't read the newsletter - even my own sister in law!!!)

No problem - I was just going by what you said. I may be glued to my email, but I know of people that don't check their email for days.

I would however give a response deadline.

the only thing i've done like this was when i couldn't come up with a name for a new treatment. i let my clients come up with something, and the winning title won the tx for free.

you may find it easier to create your own trivia questions around what your practice is mostly about. what i mean is that if you mostly work with rehab and never any pregnancy, asking a pregnancy ? might not be the best route to go. except that it would be advertising a modality you don't use much, so maybe that would be a good thing to do. i'm still sleepy. anyway, have a great day!
