A Wenham man is facing rape charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a friend while giving that man a massage at a Danvers business over the weekend.
John Acciavatti, 52, of 207 Topsfield Road, Wenham, was arraigned in Salem District Court on Wednesday on two counts of rape and one count of indecent assault and battery, reports the Salem News.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail, along with staying away from the gym where he met the victim and staying off Craig's List, reports the Salem News.
According to a police report, the 32-year-old victim claims he was sexually assaulted Saturday afternoon by Acciavatti at a business on Centre Street in Danvers that offers massages.
He told police he and Acciavatti work out at the same gym and Acciavatti had offered to give him a massage.
He said that during the course of the massage, Acciavatti tried to perform sexual acts on him twice before he (the victim) finally fled the studio.
Acciavatti was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after showing up at the Danvers Police Station to be served with a court warrant. The Salem News reports he will be back in court May 8.
