What are some tips to re-introducing my 3 month old to the breast after bottle

feeding for 3 weeks? At 2 months I had to take my ds off the breast in order for my nipples to heal. I have been expressing breast milk for him and feeding him with bottles. He has a high arching palate and breast feeding has been challenging (and excruciatingly painful) to say the least. He has been nursed first thing every morning when I bring him into bed with me and that has gone well. For the past two days, however, I have tried to introduce more breast feeding and he has not been interested - in fact he has cried. I am a patient woman and don't expect this to happen overnight, but we must start somewhere.
I wonder if anyone has some advice to encourage him back to the breast.
FYI: I am working with a IBCLC regularly but our next appt is not until next week.

I'm really sorry to say it but he probably wont go back to your breast. I did exactly the same thing - I nursed her for a week, then my nipples became sore, bled and blistered, so I stopped, and used bottle instead. A week later I felt 'cruel' and 'guilty' so I tried to go back but she screamed, and didn't want to know. Good luck, and there might be a way of doing it, but I tried pretty much everything. x

Due to a medical condition my daugter's pedi thought she had, I had to stop breasfeeding and feed her soy for 2 weeks. I pumped just in case she did not have the condition. Well it turned out that I could breastfeed again and she latched right back on... the transition was a little difficult for my nipples but in no time she was feeding like normal. This all happened when she was 1 month and 2 weeks old to 2 months. I am now happliy still breastfeeding at 8 months old! Patience ... haha I remember actually saying that to myself when she started breastfeeding again.. "Patience and time" It will work! Good luck and God Bless!
