What sewing machines are good for a newbie? Must not jam,?

I've done some basic sewing before on my mother's sewing machine, but I haven't used one at all in a while. I just want to have something I can use for basic stuff--mending things I have already and basic projects.

Musts:
Easy to thread/get started.
Doesn't jam often.
stiches are nice and even.
has a few different stitch options
reverse stitch

Features that would be nice:
buttonhole maker
blind hem stitch

I don't mind used, if I know what to get. Or new is fine too. I want to keep it under $200, but for what I need maybe something much less expensive will be fine.
 
There are so many suitable machines that there's no point recommending a specific one. Go to a store that sells and services sewing machines and see what they have. Every machine will jam if you do the wrong things. And use the 'discover' heading on this forum. This question has been answered probably dozens of times so you should find lots of info in old questions.
