Think Ford has already said nothing will open until the kids are back in school. Well the school year is almost over so they will not be going back until September so thats a good bet. Although it looks like the government has decided to pick a fight with the teachers union by claiming they are the ones keeping the schools closed. Not sure if it is true or not but it does appear Ford is trying to piss off as many people as possible before the next election. just wish there was someone worth voting for but the other parties are just as bad.

I agree. A friend of mine has been diligent about following the rules, got vaccinated, etc. etc. etc. A few days ago when the announcement about extending the stay at home order came out he suggested to a few of us to get together for drinks. I was giving him a hard time about breaking the rules. The golf course that opened (closed now), the three marinas open out Hamilton way (still open I think), the church in Ontario (not sure where) that was holding service. The end the lockdown rally in Toronto yesterday. Think a lot have reached their limit and the hold the government thinks it has over the people is starting to crack.

New 3 stage plan looking to start around June 14th:

1. Stage One: We hit 60% of the population with one dose so outdoor activities can open
2. Stage Two (21 days later): 70% with one dose and 20% fully vaccinated so personal services open and some limited capacity indoor retail
3. Stage Three (21 days later): 70-80% with one dose and 25% fully vaccinated we get to indoor dining and indoor seated events (likely movie theatres, plays and sports)

We’re vaccinating 0.8-0.9% of the provincial population daily now and it takes 2 weeks before one dose is affective which is likely driving the June 14th date instead of earlier.

Hospitalizations, ICU beds and % positivity all can affect the stages though.

Hopefully the Indian double variant doesn’t spoil the party and result in a 4th wave for the fall. I hope that the Indian mutation does not emulate the UK variant’s effect in the highly vaccinated UK, otherwisewe are screwed again and to what degree, only time will tell.

A lot of the spas owners said they are hanging by a thread. If the lockdowns continue to extend, their businesses will go down the drain or put a nail to the coffin.

I drive a lot as part of my job. I can tell the trend by driving. At the beginning of the pandemic, there is literally no traffic on the highway. Right now the traffic does suck but not as bad as pre pandemic. People are basically telling Doug ford to go fuck himself. Most people are done with this stay at home bullshit. Honestly, how many people stay at the home the entire time. I didn't.

There is a lot of politics to this pandemic as well as the pathology. The Chief Medical Officers of Health for Toronto and Peel, both of whom are not elected have court orders which allow them to currently work around the Premier. Ford like all politicians is populist, arguably more populist than most Ontario politicians , and is now forced to make decisions to the liking ot Toronto, Peel and Ottawa Public Health. Ford Nation is fractured but will likely regroup before election time because the provincial NDP and the obliterated provincial Liberals are not an option.

There is also much more rough times ahead for us all as the pandemic is far from over. I hope the ” local victories “ are sustainable.

You don’t calculate survival rate by deaths / total population (where you include people that never got Covid). You calculate it as deaths / total cases or alternatively 1 minus the death rate (which is near 1.8%). So Survival rate is near 98.2%.

98.2% is still very good odds. I would take those when betting every time.
