Which blog service again?

I know we've discussed this before, but these things change pretty quickly...I need to be more serious about my website's blog, and I don't want to use the one that comes with the Yahoo service for several reasons. So I'll just use one of the standards -- but which one? Blogger, blogs.com, typepad? (I suppose I could use LiveJournal but it has -- ahem -- a reputation.)

Are you using anything, and what do you like if so? Price, speed, ease of uploading posts and photos, etc.

Oo oo, post a link too, if you've got a professional blog going.

A big topic to check out with each, is who owns your material. Many free blog platforms like, Blogger (Google), actually own your posts. The free ones can also be limiting in terms of advanced options (caeforum.xxxories, plug-ins, pic downloads).

I chose Wordpress and really like it. Never had any speed or upload issues. I've found many great plug-ins and lots of control over my layout. I also find it very easy to use/navigate.

I use bluehost.com as my host.

Why do you think you need a blog? Blogs are good for somethings but
I think it is much better to just write content for your website and also create an online newsletter for your website than blogging really.
I have a blog for my websites where I write about massage but to make a blog be effective you have to write on it everyday or every other day.

Get peoples email addresses so you can contact them weekly and educate them about massage etc. to get them to be a client.

Write about whatever types of massage that you do -like a page for each type. Write about the various conditions that you work with and how massage can help each thing.


If you still want to have a blog because they are fun I recommend wordpress. I have a bunch of stuff written about how to set one up and get it optimized for the search engines etc on my site

Beccy,
What is your current website's blog? I couldn't find it. Are you creating a new one? If so, Julie brings up some good points.

Think about why you want to create a blog and how much work you are willing to put into it. My blog is not about getting clients. It's more about getting information out there about CranioSacral Therapy (and some massage/bodywork). I will also post from time to time about general health/wellness/fitness stuff. It's also a place for me to put information about my affiliates and other streams of income so that it keeps my main website clean.

I don't post as often as I'd like, but I'm not relying solely on my blog to bring in money. So, I'm ok with going a week without a post.

What are your blog goals?
