Dont rush anything. Dont force. Her desire will stem from increasing awareness of her body and increasing desire for indepenence. You have said that she is physically ready, is she mentally ready? If so, do this. FULL STOP, no more diapers. Go and buy about 18 pairs or six packs of training pants. Buy one cheap bar of laundry soap and leave it in your sink, you will be pre-washing panties frequently. Let the dirties collect in the sink or in a pail for the day, then throw in the wash. Buy one potty for where she plays, and one for in the bathroom. This way it will be easier for her to get to a potty when either you or her sense its time to go. Buy one travel potty for on the go, because you will not use diapers, even in the car. If this is going to be the norm from now on, its unfair to confuse her by leaving diapers in the mix. Waterproof what you think needs waterproofing, but dont go overboard. Its just baby pee.
Easily cleaned up with a wet towel and some febreeze. Okay, now you have done the hardest parts. You have bought the equipment, set up for success, and stopped utilizing diapers. Except for bedtime. She will be able to understand why she needs one at night. Dont worry about that, even though I have seen toddlers get upset when they have to put one on before bed. It happens, and its really up to you wether on goes on at night or not, just not during the day. Absolutely no diapers! Explain to your daughter what happens when you go pee. From getting the "feeling" to peeing, to pulling undies back up and washing hands. You dont have to be very specific, just some basic reminders. She likely knows whats going on by watching you during the day anyway. Explain in advance what an "accident" is and that it is okay to have one. Dont punish for wet panties, it will discourage. Give many rewards for successful attempts. Hugs, kisses, stickers, one on one time via kitchen timer etc. Never reward with candy or toys. As far as making the connection, she will do that on her own quite naturally, because you have made her keenly aware of the "wet" sensation when she goes in her panties, and aware of the brand new potties in your home. The next step is pooping and overnights. Which is another ball park.
