...job,or the newbie who loves their job? If you were a manager, and these 2 candidates for promotion, which do you think you would pick?-
*Candidate A does their job well, has worked for the company 8 years- BUT does not work well with others, is disliked, and rules through intimidation-This person does their job, but never anything beyond what is asked of them, and often gripes they hate this job- but they need the promotion because they need the money.
Or candidate B, a person that worked for the company 1 year, who loves their job, is popular with the staff, and leads through positive reinforcement? A flaw might be is that they act as 'buddies' with their coworkers. This person never complains about working extra hours, and wants to move up in the company because they believe in the product.
I would say when it comes to doing the job, both candidates are equals- The difference is one has been here longer than the other, plus one has personalilty conflicts with coworkers, the other does not...
I do know that the candidate who has been here longer feels that they are obligated to recieve the promotion due to their seniority, but their difficulty in working with others creates some doubts...
- how will this person behave as a manager? Will the conflicts worsen?
