Why did my friend flip out when I introduced one of his friends to Mephedrone?

I don't see what I did wrong after all its called plant food and legal. I had some coke on me and my buddy said my friend is coming over and to keep that away from him because he's a recovering addict. I was like, OK, wouldn't want to get him hooked again. I pulled out the bag and say what you think of this. I had to tell him what it was. I just said its a legal research chemical and sold as plant food to bypass laws. My buddy was like what you doing, you don't know what it has in it. Then I was like, go head, its safe. I'm like its safer then Extacy, and not addicting. I was like, this drug is all fun and games, just have a good time.
My buddy was mad. I tried to explain to my buddy that its a legal and safe alternative to Extacy and Coke.
