Why won't he introduce me to any of his friends and hook me up?

I'm friends with this guy at work who over the past couple of years that I have been single has asked me, on more than one occasion, if I'm seeing anyone. He also asks mutual friends this about me. When I say "no, why? do you have a friend you want to set me up with?" his answer is always no, or he ignores the question. So then I kinda thought "well hey, maybe HE likes me...but that can't be because he is already taken". But now he goes between not setting me up with his friends and teasing me about "hooking up" with some other guys at work that he absolutely knows I am NOT interested in. So am I not good enough for HIS friends and if so why does he keep asking me about my personal life and whether I'm seeing someone or not. Why the heck does he even care??
no I'm not that dense because when he kept asking that WITHOUT hooking me up I thought he might...just didn't understand why he would if he's already taken. He should just keep his mouth shut if he is.
BUT then when he starts picking out guys at our office that I SHOULD talk to it makes me think he isn't really interested he just wasn't interested in introducing me to one of his friends.
