Why would you come to me for reflexology?

OK I know Im stealing from the 'massage thread' but I think its a brill thread.
So what would make you as a client come to me for reflexology.I have done some flyers and I begin with 'Do you suffer from ....... if so why not try Reflexology a non invasive treatment....... I think this gets the attention straight away.My treatments are also covered by 'health insurance' this also appeals to people lucky enough to afford this.
So I get the clients in and I intend to be assertive in suggesting they return for further treatments and follow a maintenance programme.
My question is what else could I do to make you return?Would it be my confident approach to the therapy,my knowledge,my personality etc. etc.?

Untill recently I've been pretty poor at broaching the subject of what next ? after someone has come for their first treatment, however I realised that it was pretty crap client care for me to go all coy when it came to next steps.

Then it came to me in a flash, inspiration !!!! I have rewritten my Aftercare sheet that I give all first time clients and turned it into a Client Progress Record sheet, there is the usual aftercare stuff, and a section for them to record what they wanted from the session, how they felt during, after and over the next few days. I then put in a paragraph about the benefits of a course of treatments and sections for treatments 2 -6 for them to record what they wanted to achieve and measure results.

It's now really easy to talk clients through it and encourage them to think about treatment benefits. I have no idea why I did not think of this before !

I also do a 6 treatments for the price of 5 deal for people who book and pay for a course of treatments up front - I allow them to opt into the deal up to treatment 3. This really encourages people to some for a course as they only sign up when they know they are getting benefits and of course they always do.

I used to have regular reflexology treatments which helped to kick start my periods. i don't anymore as the isue has been corrected and also can't afford to just have them.

I really like the approch outlined above for getting clients to think about what next. one word of warning. I used to go to a chiropractor whihc was really useful for getting me back on track after putting my back out. However I was really put off by their approach - they kept going on about how essential it is to keep going regularly. They even had an evening which i was told would educate me about 'health' but it was incredibly one sided and made me feel that if i didn't continue treatment i would be a physical and emotional wreck within weeks while if I continued i would ever experience another health problem again.

It was all a bit hard sell for me, so i guess i'm posting this just as a warning note that there is a balance there but you can over step the hard sell mark.

My reflexologist who was wonderful got the balance completely right. She always asked if i wanted to book another appointment but seemed more focused on when would be best for me rather than giving the maximum number of treatments to ensure her profits ( we were trying to synchronise them with my cycle as i couldn;t aford weekly). But when i said i didn't and i would be in touch she was fine about that and because i felt comfortable that i could just book when i wished I even went back for a random treatment when i was visiting friends in the area (i have now moved away) which i couldn't have done if i felt she was pushy.

I do a similar thing to Scooby in that I give each new client an aftercare advice sheet in which I detail the benefits of regular sessions to begin with.

I also am completly upfront with new clients who approach me through the web or on email and explain that ideally a course of 4/6 weekly sessions id best followed by monthly(ish) maintenance sessions but also stress that it gets determined by how well the client reacts to the sessions and the relationship that we bulid together (as they will get no benefit in my opinion if they are not comfortable with me).

I also offer 5 for the price of 6 but ask them to make the decision after 2/3 sessions (but include these in the offer) as then they know if they are happy and responding.

At the end of each session I ask the client how they feel it went and if they would like to book another session there and then or call me in a day or so when they know if they have had any benefit. So far only one client has not re-booked within the week.

I also agree though that it best not to go for the hard sell as I agree that I would not go back so why would my clients if i was like that?
