Writing an Article

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about writing an article about massage for the local papers, and I was wondering if anyone has done this, what have you written about? I'm thinking about writing one on how to choose the right therapist for you - in an unregulated state, there are a LOT of people who watched a video and then hung out a shingle to charge $60/hr. When I was in the big city, people just didn't know that massage was unregulated!

What do you guys think? Is there any advice for me?

I wrote an article on the topic and made it specific to Oklahoma since that would increase the keywords on my website. It ran in two local papers and I keep it on my website and blog.

Hopefully that will give you an idea of where you can start. It never says "I am educated, I am professional" - it just talks about what to ask, what to look for, etc.

I wrote a basic one recently about the benefits of massage therapy -- the kind of thing that local mags like to entitle "Massage Rubs You The Right Way." Short, basic, with a sidebar about types of massage and another about how to choose an MT. It was fun!

that sounds like something I need - simple, with some good info. Something that gives me a bit of visibility in the community.

Remember - with an article you want to EDUCATE. Select a topic of concern to many people, or a specific group, and then address that topic.

Coping with Pregnancy Discomfort
Weekend Warrior Syndrome?
Managing Fibromyalgia Pain

etc. Whatever topic is of interest to you. DON'T make the article about YOU - make the article about the person who is suffering from fibromyalgia, or who overdid it on a Saturday afternoon. What can be done FOR THEM?
