Bars Under The New Boxing Stadium and Tiger Open Last Night

She has a boyfriend since over a year, but she has been in MTB a lot anyway to see friends etc and help out just to do something.

They were supposed to open the bar in April but it was delayed until now.

I hope they fix the sound, it was very annoying with that much echo.

I should mention it has been a tough year for a lot of bars, demographics changing and numbers at the moment not what it used to be around Songkran (I think due to Red shirts protest during last month), so I guess a lot of bars will try to sell their business coming months.

Yeah but those rumours have been about for years. I remember back in 2006/7 I was told that by a number of people both Thai and Farang. But the 2 years came about and still not much has changed.

Seem to remember the Tiger like building down by the school, which was being used as restaraunt last visit, having the same thing said about it then.

But of course, with more higher end hotels coming in, the area's around the beach will become more 'popular' with luxury hotels etc. So it could very long term planning by Thai's! (Never thought I would put that in a sentence! 555)

Yeah i was talking to her boyfriend at the early on in the year and he wasnt happy with the people running the show.. Apparently they were not very organised and like Nicke said the just kept delaying the opening date...

Abject apologies, Mr Moto is absolutely correct- the Boxing Bar is CURRENTLY not for sale (watch this space!). Why anyone would want to purchase a place in the White Elephant anyway would baffle me. Oops- someone did!!! :whistle:

Guess they are from the same "artist" who painted the boxers on the wall of the former Bangla boxing stadion on the corner of Bangla and Ratty

When i talked to him on the opening night he told me he hadn`t signed a lease and didn`t know what the operating hours etc. would be...Although he did say he had already paid the key money.
And they had tacked on 25% to the rent money that he had initially agreed to.


Sounds like he`s had plenty of time to pull out if he wanted to.
But i guess the best time to open is Nov or Dec.

It looks like they are expanding the 'Shanty Bars' from the top of Sansabai along the 'Yellow Brick Road' towards the Hospital as well- what a charming place to stop for a drink!!!

That will be interesting..you think they'll eventually go as far as the hospital?...which will be great news for patients trying to rest through the music and howling screams

The way it was explained to me its the sub-lease in Tiger that's up in two years. The lease then reverts back to the old lady who owns the land and plans to maintain the bar area as property values continue to increase. Bear in mind TiT and the information is not valid once it has been passed and contradicts my prediction at the bottom of this post! :666:

'Tiger Group' decided to do some rumour mongering in conjunction with their build under the stadium in order to encourage people to jump into the new bars. As we have seen this was indeed premature and it's going to be a lean year for those who fell for it, as the tumbleweeds blowing through the place clearly demonstrate. A bit of volume control and less bass may encuragmore punters to walk down the dusty road to get to it though. The 4th biggest lie in the world is 'I've bought a bar under the Boxing Stadium and things are rosy' :

I agree that in time (2-5 years) we will probably see a complete shift from Bangla to the Yellow Brick Road area but this is only MY opinion, others can beg to differ.
