This is getting all too nerve racking for me. Last place I want to be is on the table about to release then all of a sudden the cops bust open the door. Its just not worth it any more sneaking around the wee-hours of the night, sneaking away from your significant other. I think its time to pack it in.

Ironic isn't it that City TV does this peice to "expose" the blight of massage parlours in Toronto yet pump in softcore porn every Friday night on every TV in the city (which any minor with a TV in thier bedroom can watch if they are up late enough) and they, City TV, even have commercials advertising them, "Tonight on Baby Blue II" .... . And don't even get me started on Much Music, which comes out of the same building and has done more damage to society than any massage parlour ever could. When we were 10, could we watch a network which glamourized "gangsta" lifestyle, taught 11 and 12 year olds that it's cool to dress slutty, swear like a sailor and smoke weed? Not in a million years!
You know that saying "don't point a finger cuz there will be 3 pointing back at you", City TV should have thought of that before doing this shoddy peice of journalism. Self righteous hypocrites!

They weren't "cops" they were bylaw enforcement bureacrats. The "charges" were for being a "holistic practioneer" without having a licen$e.

Just continues to re-inforce my lack of respect for the media overall.

The TV story on Monday and this one on their website have them talking to two people from 'Streetlight', apparently an anti-prostitution organization. You think maybe CITY-TV is doing this story after Streetlight asked them to?

I don't want to be too insulting since they probably mean well, but read the article I linked to above and the "Myths and Facts" list after it. Whether it's deliberately dishonest or just out of ignorance, what they say is completely out of touch with reality for most of the thousands of escorts and MPAs in Canada.

Is there anyone, maybe from Maggies or SPOC or some other organization, who would or could be willing to tell CITY-TV the truth?

I find a lot of what she has to say about streetwalkers with pimps is true.

What pisses me off is that when these stories come out ALL sex workers are viewed that way. Just like some people think all alcoholics are the guys bumming loonies on the corner. The fact does remain though that sadly it cannot be denied is that a lot of girls are stuck in more ways then one in the sex trade. And IMO these are the girls who are working the streets. I have always advocated that there should be more help for these girls. In other words more treatment centers and other places for them to turn if they want out. Fact is that most girls working the streets do want out IMO. I don't believe that they are the majority of sex workers though. And of course we all here know that those ladies who choose to work in this industry and don't have violent pimps to pay off are for the most part very professional and are doing so by choice. They are sex workers because they want to be and are living for the most part a normal life. They are not ashamed of themselves there fore are not turning into drug addicts. They do not have pimps forcing them to give up all their money to them. They are buying houses and condos. They are going to college or university. They are investing in stocks and bonds. They are paying taxes. If they could balance out these expose shows by showing the other side as well then it would not upset me so much. It
