I should have worded it differently but I think you know what I was getting at... " they do us a great favor" should be changed to, "thank god for these ladies" - so use that instead..
but on the favor - recently i was telling a fave how I needed to go buy some new shirts as the one I was wearing was holy and raggedy looking (but comfortable). She did me a favor and went and bought some for me... Another example of how I interpret favor would be like when the last time I went to my hairstylist and mentioned that the hair gel I buy from her is great and how I need to stock up on it for the future.. she ordered it up after I left and the next time I went she had one which I purchased, and gave me another one no charge just because..

my interpretation of "favor" may be skewed!! but I'm still not lost in the sauce like some guys here are.. (Ursus)
