Rosie, two things spring to mind:

Just get talking to the midwives and keep talking, even if they want something different to what you are offering, just go down that route and get yourself in with them. Secondly, how about doing some case studies for the course free of charge? I am sure you would get lots of women wanting treatment, put a card up at the clinic or talk to the midwives again.

Other ways to try and get your chosen clients:

Primary schools - full of young mums with little children, babies and babies on the way. Contact the PA and ask if you can give a talk and do mini treatments. You could even do a 'pamper evening' with another theapist.

Play groups and nurseries. Same as above.

They all have advertising space in their summer fete mags too, so contact your local schools for that, it is cheap.

Just keep pluggin away!

its finding out where these mum and toddler groups are and then mustering up the oomph... when you constantly market yourself, its tiring!

Hi I am new to this site and think its brilliant! I practise aroma, swedish, IHM, Daoyin Tao, Reiki and reflex. I havent been practising that long and am finding more and more to learn the whole time. I am desperate for more info on reflex and infertility as Ive just got my first client and I must admit I dont know the best times etc during the cycle to give the treatment. I love reflexology and want to widen my knowledge as much as possible. Any help on infertility treatment tips will be greatly appreciated!

hello hales,

its probably good practise to get into the habit of referring to it as sub fertility... infertility means nothing anyone can do to make it not so! i think it makes for a positive attitude using subfertility. )

i have to say, i give complete treatments, always, but just go gentler on the repro areas if there is a chance of pregnancy... afterall, some people dont always fit in with the 2nd half of cycle theories and some people are up the wall with dates etc anyway.

Hi Hales

The thing with these therapies is that you have to go on learning all the time. Reading lots of books etc. I got Jan Williamsons 'Precision Reflexology', Lynne Booths 'Vertical Reflexology' and an acupressure book this week. ( you can claim them against tax). There is so much knowlege out there.

Usually with infertility its best to give treatments in the first half of the menstrual cycle, if they know!! as it helps stimulate ciculation and ovulation. After acouple of cycles, I go easy the 2nd half of the month on the repros and pituitary. It is also good to treat the prospective Dads if you can. I also advise them to watch their alcohol intake, weekly binges are very bad for sperm production!

I think I tend to regard IVF the same as if someone has an unstable pregnancy and wont treat until 3months pregnant, as the hormones have been so unbalanced. I'd treat in between tries.

With Clomid, I'd go with my instincts I think. Hormones not so radically imbalanced.

Has anyone treated and IVF client. I've only had Clomid ones.
