Help a Blogger newbie!?

I'm a Wordpress type- but I opened a new blog on blogger, so I'm quite a newbie. Here's my question:

I created pages that I want to update often- like pages where you add new posts frequently. How can I do that without having to "edit" the page all the time?

This is what I don't like about adding new posts on a page:
Example: I make a new post for the "cooking" page, and then another new post for the "repair shop page". Then, when you visit my blog, you see these posts one under the other sequencially instead of seeing them on their appropriate pages, or arriving on my "home page" first.

That's what I don't like. I want the visitors to arrive on the home page, and then click on the pages to view the new posts......

I guess that sounds more like a website format? I hope I'm making sense.

Is that even possible to do on blogger- or Wordpress for that matter? Thanks for your help!
