How long do you wait?

Just curious about your opinions on how long you wait before giving up on an appointment and/or moving on to another provider. Some providers won't text back after an hour or two for discretion (which I think is best), but others will text back 4 hours later saying they are available. I feel bad if they miss out on my business because they were occupied, but I can only wait so long!

15 minutes unless they notify in advance then I may be more lenient. If I’m late for an appointment I pay for the full time that I booked and only use the time remaining that i asked for unless her next time slot is open. I never ask for someone else’s time to be delayed because I am late and expect the same from others. And no one should call you unless they want to offer some free time if they were late. Especially four hours later when you’re possibly having dinner with your family! My $.02

It’s a crap shoot anyway you look at it.

These days, everything happens so fast, it gets frustrating when your Amazon order doesn’t show up the next day. Our expectations have been so heightened, we get pissed when we don’t receive a “timely” response doing anything. (Texting, shopping)

Typically, if it is someone I have seen in the past, my name is saved on their phone so I am return customer, (tried and true $$) and in turn, will most likely receive a much faster response. (1-1/2 hours if they are busy. Instantly if they are not)

Out of respect for a new provider (to me), I like to give one day’s grace through text. If I don’t see something back within 24 hr, I drop it.
If they respond the next day I will ask the usual questions and possible book a time (if I haven’t already somewhere else) If I have already booked somewhere else, I never let them know. I typically say I am just inquiring about services and that my schedule is crappy.


I have been blocked before for asking if they “have an opening this afternoon”, not get a response, booking somewhere else, then get a response 4 hours later from the original saying “yes! You come now?” When I mention that I found another place, I become “that guy” and now every time I text, I get the “no, we busy now”
Pretty sure I am saved as “don’t book with this guy”……..guy.
But if I text with my other phone, 5 minutes after the first rejection (work vs personal) they are happy to have me “come at any time hun!”

That's the fear, getting blacklisted when they answer after you've already made new plans. 24 hours is pretty gracious. I usually don't have the benefit of multiple days available in a row, or knowing about my availability days in advance. I usually try to book several hours in advance on the same day (like 7 or 8 hours). I think that's plenty for some providers, but not good for others. The trouble is knowing who is touchy about it!
