Is this introducing something new to Islam .. is this bida?

As-salamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

To have 'sunnah iftars' where people who fast on Mondays or Thursdays as the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) used to do come together and break their fast together (have iftar/dinner, islamic quiz, fun, etc)

but i don't think they had communal 'sunnah iftars' at that time.....so would this be bida???/

Breaking fast and praying salat in Jammah is a Amal -e- Saleh ( a good and rewarding act ).
It is never a Bidah.

That is not bidah. Bidahs are as follows:

Losing the sense of deep spirituality, respect and love for the sacred people and places, and not respecting the sanctity of particular times.

Showing ingratitude and disrespect towards the Holy Prophet SAW.

Destroying the graves of the Holy Prophet's SAW family and companions.

Issuing fathwas that justify killing of innocents.

Blowing up buildings 9/11 and infrastucture 7/7.

Global Terrorism.
