Newbie guitar questions?

Hey. I just started playing guitar about a week ago and I love it. When I'm playing songs, I notice that it's hard to position my fingers correctly and slide them into the next position without busting the currently playing chord.

So a few questions:
* Any tips on how to slide the fingers back a little more efficiently?
* Is there any equipment or tool I can use to help me barre a certain fret? One song I'm interested in playing has almost the entire song's 1st fret barred, and it hinders my ability to move my fingers better.

My advice to you would be to just keep on practising, I'm you get frustrated stop for a while and go back to it.
Barring a chord can be difficult at first, but if you keep practising it will come easy to you.

As you get more comfortable with moving your fingers into position fast there will be a shorter gap between chord changes. You can also try not to mute strings that are similar between the chords. The key to avoiding that "jump" between chords is for none of the strings to stop vibrating, so try to use pull offs/hammer ons, or slides to avoid that dead gap between changes.

You can get a tool to play barre chords for you, but that would be cheating...

As far as getting notes wrong, there's nothing wrong with using your picking hand to physically put your fingers into place to get used to the neck.

Just don't go too fast, practise and you'll be allright

Practice while u switch position count 4 beats to switch position, thats how i did it
