What do you do if someone has say an hour package and wants to do a 90 minute just that one time. Would you up charge (and if so, how much? Enough to make it become the prices that you would have for a 90 minute regular priced massge? Or what 1 90 minute would break down to in a package deal?) or would you just make them pay for the 90 minute separately and have it not affect their package at all?

For the most part the difference between my regular rate 60m & 90m is the same as the differnce between the package rates. It's a $25 difference. so I just have them pay $25 more on top of redeeming a package session. I have had one couple where the wife gets 60 minutes and the husband gets 90 minutes. They buy and share my 6 pack for 60 minutes and the husband just pays the extra $25 for each 90 minute session he gets. In the end he's paying the "package price" for the 6x90 minute sessions.

We have a major one, but we don't run it all the time. Buy 4 1-hour sessions for $200. We write out 4 gift certificates (as opposed to the gift cards we usually use) for 'One 60 minute massage'. They have a year to use them, they can gift them to others, use them for themselves, whatever they wish. We did this at Christmas so people could giHe ve them as gifts and did really, really well with them. Since summer is our slow time, we decided to offer it again as it's nice to have someone come in and plunk $200 down at one time. Many of our regulars buy them for themselves, or the spouse of a regular will come in and get a pack to give their partner. Some use them as b'day or anniversary gifts. We don't limit who can use them at all, as long as the person getting the massage has the certificate, they get a massage. Word really spread about them, so we have a lot of new people as well using them. It's a nice way to reward our long term and loyal clients as well.

I have one client that buys a bunch of them, then uses them throughout the year. He gets a 90 minute massage, and pays the difference. Technically, he only paid $50 for the cert, but it's worth a one hour massage, hence its value is $65. Then he pays $25 for the difference. He also tips $35 each time, so that's always nice too!

I'm ok with the reduced perceneforum.xxxe (we get 60%) because I worked a job I hated busting my butt for 3 years, making $10 an hour. Making $30 an hour doing something I love still amazes me. We suggested the package deals but the owner wanted to make sure we would be ok with doing a massage for $50, which I thought was very nice of her.

Hey Definemylife, on my packages I do NOT allow for clients to split them into separate sessions, meaning if a client purchased a 90m and then decided to come in for a 60m one day and a 30m the other. I used to at first, but a lot of clients started doing that and I realized they are already getting a good deal with the packages, why give further? If someone wants to add time to their session, they will pay the difference as you mentioned in your post.

Also, I don't have expiration dates on the packages. I keep files on each client and in their file is a note about their series, it's really quite simple to keep track of them. Especially since I am a sole practitioner. As they come in, I fill in the dates. If a client has purchased a series and I haven't seen them in 2 months, I give them a reminder call that they still have sessions left. The only reason I offer packages is b/c with the type of work I do, it's important for clients to come in on a regular basis until the situation is resolved. When they buy a series (pkg) they will come in more regularly. I've never had someone purchase a series and not use them. They get used up quickly, although I do have two clients who purchase series and come in monthly.

We run different package options throughout the year to keep things fresh and encourage our clients to take advaneforum.xxxe of them while they are available. Sometimes it's a basic "Buy 5 hours of massage, get a 1/2 hour free." Other times we offer a better deal, or even a selection of deals - particularly at Christmas and other major gift-giving holidays.

Our packages are purchased as dollar amounts loaded on smart cards. No smart card, no can redeem - so it's up to them to keep track of it and remember to bring it in. We permit them to use the smart cards like cash, so they can apply it to any of our services. Our gift cards never expire.
