Reflexology training

Hi Everyone

I am wanting to train in Reflexology but struggling to find somewhere to train fairly locally. A lot of the courses just seem to be two days but I would like to do the full training and gain an insurable qualification. Could any one recommend any trainers in Reflexolgy please. I am in Suffolk but can travel to Cambridgeshire and Essex as well.

Check out the AoR website as they list colleges where you can train. Its a year's training course and there's a place in Norwich where courses start in October.

I have had a look on their site and noticed the one starting in October. I will give them a call. If any one else has any more ideas or recomendations that would be great.

the AoR are a good association, I belong to them.

There are a couple of courses in Essex but they start this month and you could be a bit late, also its quite a way from where you live.

If you are wanting to do a course you need to look at what awarding bodies the AoR approve because if you get a qualification that they don't recognise you can't join them.

Obviously the Association of Reflexologists is one way to go I would suggest one of their courses if you are intending to become a member with them afterwards.

There are also other organisations which aren't specific to just Reflexology. The FHT is good, then there is the CNHC and Embody, as many therapists have more than one treatment they offer and so prefer to join one of these organisations instead. You can then look at other qualifications in reflexology such as ITEC and VTCT which are likely to be offered by your local college.

I would strongly suggest avoiding any short courses in reflexology! Tracey

Thank you for the information.

I am totally avoiding the short courses as I do feel it is necessary to get really good practical training with reflexology which you can really only from spending time on a longer course. I am still looking around but think I may have to wait for the most local college to me ( about 20 miles) away to run the course again starting next September. They are full for this year and I am not quite ready to start training yet as I am still recovering from a broken foot. ( not the most sensible time to start reflexology training ) I would ideally of liked to get a long course starting around Jan time that is fairly local and that is what I am struggling to find at the moment. I will have a look at your suggestions though as see if I can find anything

Glad you are going down the "easy" route and looking for a proper course. I'm sure you will find the right course as you are prepared to wait for it. Too many people on Hp want to do everything NOW, like they have some god given right to access the therapy world without the proper training.

When your foot heals up why not have some regular reflex treatments with some different therapists? Good start to your "training" wink, wink!!
